Christmas Eve Boxes/bags

Other

My mum makes my kids their Christmas even boxes/bags and they look forward to them every year so I was thinking we could share ideas for what to put in them.

My mum usually includes

Pyjamas

Slippers/socks

Book

Pringles

Sweets

Hot chocolate

Small game

Biscuits

Mug

Nicely headband/hat

Selection box

So what do you put in yours?

The same as yours but I add a packet of rain deer food made from porridge oats and glitter

I think your mum's list is a pretty well thought out, the only thing I do differently is colouring books and pens for my younger one instead of a game.

Pringles yes!! I’m doing that for our movie at night along with pjs, a book, a wee mug (I got last year for 62p). And some snacks for the movie x

possy We do this too - have a bit of a movie night with snacks.

I’ll also be adding some little activity sets to the ones I’m doing for a friend’s kids including a DIY snow globe kit and little model kit too.

cocolgooh omg that sounds amazing diy snow globe. A lot of people don’t agree with Xmas eve boxes but I am a fan, I think it’s full of fun for all the family x

possy I completely agree - it’s a fun way to make some extra memories as a family over Christmas and it’s something extra the kids (well, everyone really!) look forward to.

SammieAgar I got mine here: www.bakerross.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=Snow%20globe%20kit

I got the “Snow Globe Kits” one since they’re Christmas themed ones but there’s other options there too so I linked to the search results in case any others appeal more to you 🙂 They’re also sold by Baker Ross on Amazon but they’re a lot more money on there right now than on the Baker Ross website.

possy Me too - less than a month to go now! It’s coming around fast!

I don't understand Christmas eve boxes. Surely you would just put that stuff in their stocking to open on Christmas day?

TheChimp we didn't have them either. You got your stocking and then your main presents. You didn't get anything on Christmas eve.

MrsCraig same here. They are a recent thing, probably devised by retailers etc in order for us to keep filling their coffers. There will be another fad along in a couple of years. Same with elf on the shelf, a very recent 'tradition'.

Lynibis I don't do elf on the shelf either, nor will I. Christmas is an expensive time of year already without the added pressures of Christmas eve boxes and elf on the shelf.

When my boys were young on Christmas Eve they would get: A christmas scented bath time treat such as a bath bomb/bubble bath. New pjs, slipper socks, Chocolate, popcorn, colouring or stickerbook & a Christmas dvd (would just pop a movie on Netflix these days tho).

More than likely something that has spread from across the Atlantic, like Black Friday and Trick or Treat before that.

Times have changed, I never had one neither did my 3 children but back then these boxes were never heard of. If that's what people want to do and can afford to do then I don't see a problem in it. Don't understand the elf on a shelf or gonks though 😂 I'd love someone to tell me xx

I love Christmas but I don't understand what all this nonsense is..mince pies and a glass of sherry was our Christmas eve surprise..x
