Is It Too Early to Put up Your Christmas Tree?

Ask a Question

For the last 2 weeks I have been hearing about people putting up their Christmas tree or they are thinking about it.

I follow my mums tradition - to put it up on 1sr December.

what do you all think?

We put ours up on December 1st, but I have no problems with people putting them up whenever they like.

Yes. It's too early.

For Christians the appropriate time to put up your Christmas tree is at the beginning of Advent (the religious name for the period coming up to Christmas). Advent covers the four Sundays before Christmas. So this year Advent begins on Sunday December 1st.

Other options include

  • waiting until Saint Nicholas Day on December 6th.
  • waiting until 12 days before Christmas to put up your tree, i.e. until December 13th
  • waiting until the third Sunday of Advent to put up your tree (a better bet for those buying real trees and keeping them in central heating), i.e. December 15th

So the earliest date this year to put up your tree is really Sunday December 1st, unless you don't mind other people thinking you are a bit odd.

I personally am so fed up with it all by the beginning of January if it has been up earlier. I always put my tree and secs up the second week of December. We start doing our Xmas activities earlier than this though as I do love Christmas 🎄

I’m the same, by The time Christmas is over my tree has to come down because I get fed up with it. I find the later I put it up the less I get fed up with it lol😝

Yes it's far too early. Anything before December is too early. I've seen people start putting decorations up already - what's that all about?!

November is far too early to put your tree up. 1st of December is the earliest that a tree should go up in my opinion. Otherwise Christmas lasts far too long.

You should put your decorations up when you want. I prefer later mainly because I have a large artificial tree now which takes up too much space.
