Its that time of year again which parents / carers dread when the Elf on a shelf arrives. Its fantastic fun for the kids but adults often find themselves dragging themselves back out bed after forgetting to move the elf.

Country living have come up with this handy cheat sheet, which I thought had some easy / cheap ideas.

I thought members could add their own ideas to the discussion too as I'm sure many folks are stuck for inspiration are Christmas gets nearer.

1/12 Elf arrives with a naughty or nice list with the child's name it.

2/12 Elf Empties flour in the kitchen and makes a snow angel

3/12 Elf is in the car with the seat beat on

4/12 Elf is doing some colouring

5/12 Elf leaves a Christmas message out of candy

6/12 Elf is eating cheese in the fridge

7/12 Elf takes a piece of chocolate from the advent calendar

8/12 Elf Sleeps in a stocking

9/12 Elf is in the washing washing

10/12 Elf zip lines using candy canes

11/12 Elf delivers a note from the North Pole in the mail box

12/12 Elf makes a trail of shoes to the Christmas tree

13/12 Elf washes the dishes

14/12 Elf takes a nap in the tissue box

15/12 Elf unravels toilet roll in the bathroom

16/12 Elf watches the film "Elf" on TV

17/ 12 Elf is in the cereal box at breakfast

18/ 12 Elf decorates a mini Christmas tree

19/ 12 Elf is riding a toy car

20/ 12 Elf is on the sofa with a note 5 days until Christmas

21/12 Elf is hanging from a ceiling fan / light shade

22/12 Elf writes a message on the bathroom mirror in steam / lipstick

23/ 12 Elf wraps presents

24/12 Elf reads the The Night Before Christmas

25/ 12 Elf is in the Christmas tree with a messaging saying Merry Christmas

I don't do the elf on the shelf and I won't be starting either. I've got enough to do without having to place an elf around my house.

MrsCraig yeah it's pretty big commitment and not for everyone. Hopefully this list will others though as many of the ideas and quick and cheap to do
