Aldi Unveils Overhaul Plan for 30+ Stores This Summer
- Aldi invests £90 million in store refurbishments
- Over 30 stores across the UK to be revamped
- Upgrades include more space, sustainable features, and updated signage
Aldi has revealed the full list of over 30 stores set for significant refurbishments this summer, part of a £90 million investment to enhance the shopping experience across the UK. This extensive upgrade initiative will see over 100 stores benefit from improvements throughout 2024.
The German discount retailer aims to provide customers with more space and incorporate sustainable features, such as energy-efficient technology for fridge doors. The refurbishments will also include updated signage and redesigned store layouts to streamline the shopping process.
Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, emphasized the retailer's commitment to accommodating its growing customer base. “Aldi attracted more new customers than any other grocery retailer in the last 12 months,” he said. “We want to continue to offer the best possible in-store experience for our shoppers.”
Neale added that reducing the environmental impact of their operations is a key priority, stating, “Finding ways to reduce any environmental impact as we continue to grow our store estate across the country is also a vital part of these changes.”
The upgrades will take place primarily in June, July, and August, with stores in Leek, Brierley Hill, and Newport seeing the most significant changes. Customers are encouraged to check their local stores for specific start dates of the refurbishments.

I am getting really annoyed with Aldi going "posh". Some of their products is almost as dear or even dearer than Asda or Tesco. Years and years ago, when Aldi first came to Britain it was known (to me via the media reports) as the discounted warehouse style shop. "You get what you pay" slogan.
