It's my Birthday today, so I am an April Fool, I hated it as a kid, but now I think there is no excuse for anyone to forget it, as it's so memorable 
Are you an April Fool too ?
There are lots of theories about why the 1st of April is called April Fools Day and I be a fool to say what the definitive answer was 
These into include its from 1592 when France switched from the Julian calendar to Gregorian calendar causing New Year’s Day to move from April 1 to January 1. Some believe the tradition of April Fools Day began when people continued to ring in the New Year on April 1 because they hadn’t heard about the calendar change.
Historians have also linked the Roman festival of Hilaria to April Fools’ Day,
Hilaria – also known as Roman Laughing Day – is marked on March 25 but people would continue dressing up after that until April 1 hence the link.
Other festivals have also been linked to April Fools Day including India’s Holi festival and the Sizdahbedar in Persian culture where Iranians play pranks on one another.

Happy birthday for today. Ive seen local news jokes. Like an estate agent putting the local hospital up for sale. There's been a debate for years about building a new one and it's cost taxpayers millions of pounds and for nothing to be done.
My friend is an April fool. It snowed on the day she was born. My husband normally tries to fool us each year, but hasn't tried this year.
MrsCraig Happy Birthday - whoever said that the reason it might originate from France adopting the Gregorian calendar in 1592 might have been attempting an "April Fool Joke" France switched new year's day to the 1st January in 1564 and didn't adopt the Gregorian calendar until 1582.

Imnotcheap It's always fascinated me too - technically I was born on 1st April (Greenwich Mean Time) but due to war time, double summer time light saving, my official birthday isn't until tomorrow. (Confusing innit).

Imnotcheap It would have been my Golden Wedding anniversary yesterday, five really significant anniversaries this weekend, tomorrow is also the anniversary of meeting my late fiancée (we were both widowed) who died 10 years and three hours later. My dog died on the day we met too.

beccatavender Happy memories tend to outweigh the others, (yesterday my Golden Wedding anniversary brought back both kinds).

VAT was introduced the following day (your birthday) and it depended on WHEN the bill was paid whether I paid it or not.

Happy Birthday to you. The trouble with April Fools day everyone is looking for a prank to happen. Today we were meeting some friends we haven’t seen for a while and as it is long way from us they actually thought I was joking when I said we were visiting.
