Is it Worth It To Spend Money On Omaze Instead Of The Lottery?
Ask a Question
I've played the Lottery for years, spending £20 a month, you always think that if you cancel, your numbers are going to come up, as it is I win £3 quite often, which is rubbish, Omaze is advertising quite a lot on TV, todays advert has a 12 o'clock deadline to enter the draw, this costs £10 a month, it sounds quite good... omaze.co.uk/pages/omaze-subscriptions
I'm wondering about cutting the money I spend on the Lottery in half and putting that on Omaze, I certainly don't want to spend more money, but there is always a slim chance of winning something, what do you think, although I do realise I might be shouted at, as some people class this as gambling, I'd like people's views please! Thanks x
Where The National Lottery has several tiers of prizes, as far as I can see, Omaze only has one main prize.
There are set odds on winning in each tier on the lottery with the winners getting an equal share of the prize fund in that tier. With Omaze it all depends on how many people enter the draw that determines your chances.
I hope that this kind of makes a little sense as I'm not very good at explaining things.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
I’d be checking what my chances of winning each one are and then make a decision based upon that b
I would completely give up and never look at the numbers again or stick with the lottery. I have read many bad stories about the Omaze prizes.
eyeballkerry I see your point but as the saying goes, you have to be in it to win it
Do you remember any of the bad stories, I'm sure I haven't heard any?

Bit of a long article but tells of all the Omaze house wins and what happened after they won
eyeballkerry Thank you so much, I'll have a read, really appreciate your help on this! x
I used to do the lottery, also did the lottery/ local ballots and stopped as my numbers were not very lucky for me. Local ballots when I stopped my numbers came up and I lost over £200.
nadinegregg70 OMG, you must have been absolutely gutted , that's why I would much rather cut down, and not completely stop! x
Don't pay for the national or euromillions lottery . I use a search engine called searchlotto and for 100 searches each week I get 4 free entries onto the national lottery but you can use it for the euromillions as well . The winnings are shared in groups of 20 .Over the last year I have won a few £10's and also had numerous weeks where I have won free entries .The last weekend I had 6 entries and you get your lottery numbers on a Saturday morning .
stuartsmith544 I've been a member since nearly the very start Stuart, I've won £44.20 in total and too many lucky dips to remember, I'm grateful obviously, as it's £44.20 I didn't have, but I'll never be rich at this rate , I don't know what the highest win from that site is, do you?
JoTarpley I would assume its if your lucky enough to get the big prize then it would be nice amount
stuartsmith544 Never heard of it - searchlotto. I might give it a go. I like entering competitions or similar that cost nothing to spend.
jam45 I'm really surprised you've never heard of it!
Search Lotto was launched in April 2010 with the aim of providing users with a new and exciting way to search the Internet.
Since then thousands of new users have joined each month and enjoyed receiving free National Lottery entries just by changing their search engine to Search Lotto. Although the magic jackpot has not yet been won by one of our users, we have paid out thousands of pounds of winnings so far and look forward to our first millionaire winner!
stuartsmith544 Stuart, have you been able to get on Search Lotto today, I've just had 404 all day, I have had it a couple of times in the past, but it's been a long time today, so I thought I'd check with you?
JoTarpley Yes mate. I think they have had a makeover as the page is really different .
stuartsmith544 Are you sure it's them Stuart, they've been the same for years, I've had this all day, even if I find their page through a search link, it's really odd .....
stuartsmith544 I've got them at last, the update was on Twitter/X thanks Stuart! x

As the saying goes of your not in it you can't wait it if it if it makes you happy then what does it matter what anyone else thinks
I do the Omaze house draw each time a new one comes up but I limit entry to £5. I prefer Premium Bonds as your wins can be re invested and you don't lose your money.I have had some good wins but never in the thousands! The more bonds you have the more chances you have of winning.
I absolutely detest Omaze which is supposedly charitable. What normal person wants a house costing millions and then can't afford to run it? Of course you can always sell. Why not give a half mill house and more of the money to the charity? Chances of winning is probably as likely as having a cheese supper with the man in the moon! And don't get me started on that grinning woman who couldn't sound more insincere. Bet the organisers are win win with this one
Lynibis I call her the smarmy woman , she doesn't convince me either I'm afraid Lyn, and 2 or 3 smaller houses would make more sense than one huge house, give more people a chance when the odds are so high! That's the trouble with TV advertising, if people see it advertised on ITV or something, then they are going to think all's good, like that Wordsearch they keep advertising !
I often miss the advert trying to peer at the small print, I saw a Charity ad the other day that basically said, give what you want, we'd be grateful, and I just managed to see on the small print that the text would actually cost you £10 !
JoTarpley Oh my gosh, I complained on here a few weeks ago about that wordsearch ad and yes you are right, if you find the programme and do the country it costs £10 but very cleverly they say only the first part which is about £1 I think.
I feel bad saying I can't stand folk on tv as I am sure she is a very nice lady in real life, but some people just come across badly on screen and you make an instant negative judgement. Smarmy woman sums it up well!
i have been tempted with this as it would be so amazing to win one of those homes. but the odds are mega low as with any lottery type competition.
