Pet Owners Caught Walking Dogs without Mess Bags Could Face £100 Fine

In the News

I am all for this one, i walk my dog and have a plastic dispenser connected to the dog lead that i can take the bags from when needed

When you walk at night sometimes you have to tread lightly to avoid the minefield of dog poop people leave on the pavements

There's a lane near us that a lot of dog walkers use. Lots of poo everywhere.

What gets me is that some owners pick up the poo in a bag and then hang it from a tree 🙄

TheChimp Disgusting TC, if there isnt a doggy bin they should take it home with them, they say money doesn't grow on trees, put dog poo does in this case

My neighbour takes his dogs out, walks them round the block and let's them do their business on the patch of grass at the front of my house. He knows better than to leave the poo lying as I've been known to shout out a few obscenities in the past. There really is no need to leave your dogs poo lying around, especially where kids play daily.

That's great news, there's no excuse for being lazy about dog poo. Your pet, your responsibility.

About time and all. The worst offenders are the "chav" looking owners, who allow their dogs to foul the pavements in full view of everyone and walk away. There is no chance of a street warden approaching them and fining them.

Some owners are too lazy to even take the poo bags home, they dangle them in trees and hedges. I doubt that owners not carrying bags will even be caught with no bobbies on the beat.

It’s a great idea but one that is going to be hard to regulate. Who is going round asking and fining?

It is a good idea but only solves half the problem - as has been mentioned - the number of people who bag it up - but then just leave the full bag on the ground or hanging from a tree - where it will stay for ages. I find that more annoying than not bagging it.
