Revolut - Bad to Use on Weekends
Other
I wish I’d known this earlier, but I didn’t - only just got the card and was enjoying the benefits of being cashless until I realised a significant difference between the revolut exchange rate and the exchange rate shown on google
I won’t be making this mistake again!
Nope, you never will. One of the frustrating things about travel money, and worse still, the gbp is rubbish atm, so not happy with it at all
It's in their t's and c's that they fix rates on weekends so if you have allowance, you should withdraw a small amount at your destination and use that cash on the weekend to bypass this.
Yep, I only saw it AFTER I made the transaction, but thankfully it was only a small amount, so it didn’t hurt too bad. That’s what I’ll be doing now on - as well as look at other options
Move over to Monzo! No hidden charges for spending on weekends, free spending both in the uk and abroad. Free cash withdrawals in the UK and abroad (Up to £200 per month). It really is such an awesome card to use both at home and internationally.
Thanks for the recommendation- I have heard good things about Monzo, but I know more people with revolut so I ended up with them. Good to know there’s competition
nnnnnnnn So far so good. The support network from the monzo community is amazing. I really like the transparency of monzo as a company and the fact they always involve their customers on upcoming plans. They often hold monthly "open office" events where users get the oppertunity to meet the monzo team and ask questions on future plans of the company.
my husband has just used his revolut card in Budapest and was quite pleased with it but i shall certainly tell him about the tips and advise :-)
Yes definitely do, as I didn’t realise until after I made the transaction, albeit a small transaction. I always find out the hard way lol
