If Youre Right Handed Do You Hold a Jar in That Hand and Unscrew Using Left?
Ask a Question
I’m having a friendly argument and hope you will reply.
I’m right handed and hold jars and bottles in my left hand and twist the top off using my right hand. My husband insists I should use my dominant right to hold the jar.
What do you do?
I naturally hold the jar in left hand and use right to unscrew lid but sometimes swap over. If it’s really stubborn I use a gadget
I'm right handed & i also hold object with my left & use my right to unscrew as i have a better grip. Which is the correct way imo
I'm right handed and I have another way of opening jars. It goes, 'ooh ahh, this is a tough one, oh yes this is too much for a girl to undo' this is closely followed by my lovely man offering to undo the jar for me and feeling like such a hero for succeeding lol
Definitely hold with the left and screw off with the right. Just seems easier than to screw with the left
I do the same as you makes the most sense your dominant hand is normally the strongest so therefore you have to in your case and mine open with your right hand. I couldn't open jars with my left hand.
I’m left handed but can do many things in either hands so I’m more ambidextrous, but I think this is because of society I have to learn to use my right hand more. As for opening a jar, I ask my husband.
Pjran No, I then get my daughter to try. I am never home alone so always get someone to help me out.
Same as yourself, I’m right handed but hold jars etc in left and open with right. Sometimes I’ll swap (if opening soda bottles and right hand gets sore lol), in hope of I’ve loosened them.
I am sitting here trying to think how I open them and I honestly don't know. I think I use my left to open and swap over if it is really hard to open.
I had to think about this question and i've just come back from the kitchen with a jar haha, i'm right handed but held the jar in my left hand and opened it with my right hand.
Why would you use your stronger hand to hold, rather than turn? It's the turning that opens the jar, not the holding. YOUR HUSBAND IS WROOOOOOOOONG
I'm left handed and hold a jar in my right hand and unscrew with left at least most of the times
I’m a leftie (as are my 4 kids) and I asked them this question. They say they hold it in their right hand and use their left hand (as it’s more dominant 1). They asked why I was asking such silly question, “surely that’s what everyone does”
I'm right handed. Hold in right and unscrew with left but I also mix/beat cakes/eggs with left hand.
lilyflower I’m in awe of your ability. My left hand just isn’t strong enough to do that.
mudgesheila50 me too as my right hand is stronger. It just makes sense to use your dominant hand to unscrew.
I am the same as you, hold in the left and use my right hand to open the jar, if it is very tight I get a small knife to put under the bottom of the lid and twist the knife and that usually work so it is easier to open.
That's right, and I tenderly knock the lid on a piece of metal/wood so it comes off easier.
