Do You Get Your 10k Steps in Everyday??

Ask a Question

I’m trying to be a bit more active and have been out walking a lot more lately.

The recommended 10k steps is difficult enough to hit.

Do you get your 10k a day?

I used to always hit 15k per day no matter what but now i have lapsed a bit. I usually do about 8k-9k so fall just below the 10k recommendation.

Things that added steps for me without my really noticing:

Park as far away in car parks as possible

When in shops walk down every aisle

jms19 wow. 15k a day is amazing. Some great tips here. I’ll definitely start parking further away from the shops

Nope. Sometimes I do but not always. I'm trying to get fitter and walk more after work. Some days I find it easier then others

Jerseydrew this is it. The weather sometimes puts me off a bit too if it’s raining heavily

PayItForward there is that the weather and what's going around us. I had a really stressful 6 months at work and couldn't do anything literally as I was mentally and physically broken by the kids I was working with

I have absolutely no idea. I walk a lot at work and try to move as much as possible at home but couldn't tell you what my actual steps were.

MrsCraig I have a step app on my phone. So it counts while I’m walking about the shops etc

PayItForward I had one on my phone but it never actually counted the steps so I gave up with it and just deleted it. I don't always have my phone in me anyway so wouldn't be accurate.

I try to keep moving and go out for regular walks but I have to pace things. When at home I do 15 minutes of jobs around the house and then rest for 15 minutes.I have fibromyalgia which doesn’t take kindly to continuous activity as it makes my muscles ache.Keep up the good work everyone but do what is best for you.

I normally do more because I walk everywhere once it gets too cold that will be a different story

Leannexxx I don’t mind it being cold. It’s the rain that would put me off walking outside. I have a big coat that keeps me warm. But when wet, it’s like carrying an elephant

I not have my phones on me majority of the time so difficult to tell. However when I was on holiday I did 16k + in a day without having my phone with me constantly so shocking really to think what I actually did.

I have a Fitbit Versa 4 & I try to do 5 miles a day, that includes walking, jogging on the spot, dancing around the house to Music..

60 next May so I'm trying to keep active & I don't like Gyms..

I walk the equivalent of between 35 & 42 mile a week, on odd occasion more!

On days when I do a walk (Monday, Wednesday & Friday) I hit around 25,000

The other days it's typically 5,000

Yes I aim to get no less than 10k each day - today I did over double, which I do almost every other day, and it’s a habit I enjoy

Some times, I’m not far off, I work from home but a large kitchen and I bake and I’m backwards and forwards. I do love a good walk but I get no time with working full time and being a mum

possy it’s great you still nearly hit it without actively trying though. I’m sure it’s not easy. Being a mum is a ft job in itself

I usually manage to do 2/3 days of 5/8000 steps, would like to do more but can't seem to motivate myself.

HEDGEHOGS it’s great to even do 5/8000 steps. It is better than zero. I’ve started walking to the local shop instead of driving. It’s only 2k there and back - but it’s better than nothing

I was getting my 10k steps plus more everyday. Using the walking apps keeps me motivated but i saw my an orthopaedic the other day and because of my knees recommended I cut down. I have now been referred to a knee surgeon. I absolutely love my walking.
