38 Dogs close to drowning rescued from a lake

In the News

I love a happy ending to a story and this is definitely one of those

Two friends that were fishing were amazed to see 38 dogs treading water in a lake in Mississippi

They were exhausted and some close to drowning

It transpired they were hunting dogs on a fox run and had chased a deer into the lake and became disorientated

Luckily the two friends managed to pull all the dogs to safety

Thank goodness they could all swim, and knew the doggy paddle

Doesn't sound like a happy end for the deer though. I'm sure the deer would have been happier if the animals that were trying to rip it apart were drowned.

BonzoBanana I have to agree with you on that one B , i hate blood sports, but it is humans to blame not the dogs, they are trained to do this unfortunately as with fox hunting

I would rather it was 38 hunters treading water and not the dogs though

telmel Yeah I just feel if you are wanting to kill deer for meat then a single bullet to the head from a distance is the way to do it. Being chased for miles and ripped apart is just utterly horrific and sadistic and like you I'd rather the hunters themselves were drowned. If we do have to kill other animals for food I feel we must always choose the least horrific way of doing it. Deer are beautiful creatures and a joy to see in the countryside.

BonzoBanana And so gentle too B, i mean foxes are not vicious creatures but they do kill chickens and the like, its in their nature , they still dont deserve hunting down

But deer don't even attack other animals or humans or eat meat, so why hunt and kill them ?

Animals that are killed to be consumed, I can understand, even if I cannot condone it. I abhor animals being hunted purely for sport. As for those being so-called 'culled', there are humane ways of doing this, and it does not include training a pack of dogs to maul it to death or putting those dogs at risk, as seen here. In Scotland, they use two men with rifles and lazer beams or torches (at night). They line the beams up and take one clean shot. It's quick and the poor animal is not terrified this way. I still don't agree with it, but it does show there are other ways.

EmmaWright762 Lets face it E, the human race is extremely defective , and i am ashamed to say that men are the main culprits

How people can hunt and kill for pleasure is beyond me !!
