95 Year Old Woman Tasered by Police in a Care Home

In the News

From the stories i read daily i have come to the conclusion that the police on occasions can be out of control in certain situations

I have read stories about children being shot by the police, now the other end of the spectrum , a 95 year old frail woman with dementia being tasered resulting in her being in a critical condition in hospital after falling and hitting her head on the floor

This was in Australia but i can imagine this happening anywhere including here

Yes she was holding a knife, but poor woman had dementia, was shuffling along at a snails pace with the help of a walking frame, and besides is only 5’2” and weighs 43kg

She had picked the knife up in the kitchen and wasn't threatening anyone, she had probably forgotten why she had picked it up and forgot to put it down

They could have disarmed her in slow motion , it would have been so easy for them to take it off her and nobody would have got hurt

But they went in with all tasers blazing so to speak

Im sure I could have easily disarmed her even though she was taller than me. People could also easily avoid the knife, I have to wonder why the police were involved anyway

Imnotcheap Exactly I , someone at the care home could have took it off her, even from behind , she would have reacted too slow to stop them

Heavy handed approach seems like a massive understatement in this instance. Sometimes some common sense needs to be applied to situations

jms19 I think common sense was definitely lacking here J

Just goes to show that you may be a police officer but that doesn't mean you have common sense...

What is wrong with people do they have no sense of humanity or common sense. I hope the police end up in trouble and the family sue them!

They Should have pulled out a cake and all start singing happy birthday, she would have cut the cake and put the knife down. Most things in life can be solved with cake. Exclusions apply.
