I've got 4 Amazon accounts hopefully one of them will have a free trial leading up to these days although I seem to remember it being rubbish last year with deals mainly on Amazon devices. My mother has just got a new Android TV and so we have put her apps on that, kodi, vpn, smart tube next etc so she no longer needs her firestick so I guess probably not going to be a good time to sell that with the prime day close at hand.
Jerseydrew Smart tube next is a app that is basically youtube without any adverts and skips the sponsor section of videos. So you just have the content without all the advertising. Kodi is a well know media player which allows you to stream from many different sites around the world, you would normally use it with a vpn to protect your identity and also allow you to stream from other countries like the USA which normally would be prevented due to geographic restrictions. I use scrubs V2 with it at the moment.
TheChimp There is no illegality to streaming from US sites. No one has gone to court for watching US TV episodes from a US streaming site. If you pay for netflix in a country which is far cheaper and stream from that country despite being in the UK that is not illegal although against their terms and conditions.
However of course there is definitely an illegal side to kodi too which probably forms the majority of use where you access other pirate content from streaming services. People using youtube with an advert blocker is also against their terms and conditions or recording music from a radio.
Youtube itself is full of illegal content, many full movies which are unlicensed to be shown on youtube and youtube benefits from ad revenue shown while playing these movies. They are getting millions of dollars from pirate movies. Youtube will remove these movies eventually but sometimes they are still available after a year or more. I guess they would argue they don't have the resources to monitor all these uploads.
BonzoBanana Ah, I see, just because no-one has been prosecuted, it must be legal.
If there are no restrictions streaming from a US site, why are you using a VPN to do so?
TheChimp Partly as stated because you have to so you appear to be in another country where the streaming service is allowed but that in itself is not illegal. Making it look like you live in the USA to enable a streaming service is not illegal. There is a difference between against their terms and conditions and being illegal. However fair cop I do watch pirate video material too and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. I guess I've got a poor attitude to copyright. I used to tape music off the radio or make long term copies of movies taped from TV. However almost 100% of people in the world have infringed copyright. I've also bought fake goods from places like Aliexpress or ebay too knowing they are fake but with a well known brand on them.
Thanks for this info, there's a few bits that I have been thinking about getting, so will keep an eye out.
We're after a 4k blu-ray player and me and my daughter really need new phones so I'm hoping to get them
CallumFlowers my daughter needs phone asap might wait for others depending on deals
Imnotcheap just wait for the deals to go down and then get it because if you get it now it'll be the dark the same price get the lightning deal wise cheaper because I've got a fire stick from 50 quid and I got it for 22 quid see and it's that was the first step that I got on prime day and it did actually stop working on me don't unfortunately I rang Anderson as it was under manufactured to Auntie they refund me all the money that I pay for so I could buy another one since then it's had a remote replacement since then it hasn't done anything wrong
I've already noticed some prices jump ridiculously, just so they can "reduce" them for prime days
Hey everyone, just to let you know that some of the big deals are actually going to start next week. We'll be posting all of them
Hopefully some of the items in my basket will be reduced, I've noticed some of the prices have risen quite a lot in recent days on them, so probably no bargains
