Is Anyone Watching Glastonbury and Would You Go?

Ask a Question

It makes me feel old, especially watching Blondie atm. I won a poster of her back in the late 70s which was on my wall 🤣 Good to see Glen Matlock on the bass though.

I couldn't cope with something like Glasto back in the day, not alone now. Too many people and morons with flags spoiling everyone's view.

I think I'm past it now.

I think I am past It too so you are not alone. I dont live that far from Glastonbury. Only about a 20 minute drive. Never been to the event and dont Intend to. Not my type of music anyways.

My dad use to go with a huge group of mates about 30 years ago. He said it was getting over commercial and to big back then so I dread to think what it's like now. Although it doesn't seem to get as muddy or have the bad weather it use to.

Yes I'm watching and yes I'd love to go. The fact that I live well over 300 miles away from Glastonbury and that I hate camping would be the deal breakers for me though.

I’ve just watched Elton, he was amazing. I much prefer seeing the broadcast than attend. Years ago we went to an Elton concert, sound quality great but viewing poor, our seats were too far away.

Doesn't appeal to me, mainly because I'm selective on the music I enjoy so it would be a lot of stuff I didn't like being played and therefore not entertaining. I only live 20 minutes away in Yeovil though so it certainly wouldn't be hard to get to.

I watched Cat Stevens who was really good. I was surprised by how many of his songs I recognised that had been covered by other people.

Enjoyed Elton too.

I’d love to go but it’s so expensive, i have friends who go every year and for what they end up spending i can go on holiday for a week. If it pours it down as well it’s not gonna be a great experience.

If i liked a lot of the bands on the lineup i would go but that’s not likely to happen.

Festivals abroad are far better, i know that in europe they have them with basically the same lineups but far cheaper in ticket price, plus will be sunny.

I watch it every year on the TV but never been in person. I think I would enjoy going and experiencing it though.

You all know I am one of the older LD members but I can honestly say that even in my late teens and 20s a festival would have been my idea of hell. I hated discos and nightclubs too and still don't like noisy parties.

Best view I think is from my front room. I couldn't bear the toilet situation or the mammoth shower block queuing. And I would worry about finding my own tent on such a grand site

It doesn't appeal to me, just rather watch on TV. Seeing the shots of the massive crowd was amazing, but really wouldn't want to be in the middle of that and needing a wee😲.

I've become increasing insular with age..pop festivals and big crowds are out but a nice folk fest in the woods and sleeping out in the long grass would suit me fine.

Did watch it. No I wouldn't go now. I would have done in the 90s but it's now just for scene kids. Would rather go to he'll fest, or download or another European festival

I watched a little bit of Glastonbury on TV, but I wouldn't be interested in going in person. I went to Leeds festival about twenty years ago. I enjoyed it, but I have no interest in going again.

I am neither watching and nor have I ever been. I have no interest in it whatsoever. I have seen people in the past covered in mud and that does appeal to me.

No, but heard it's expensive and has a pretty nice and sturdy border wall which non paying folks can't enter.

How about that.

PhilipMarc I knew a guy quite a few years ago that took a rope ladder down and was charging £5 a person to climb in.

It's been brilliant to watch and I don't believe if you like music your ever past it. Yolo! I'd love to go and am hoping I may stand a chance at tickets next year.

Too noisy for me. Full of scruffy folk that need a good wash and to pick up the rubbish that they leave everywhere. Giving hippies a bad name !

Yes watched it loved it, been 4 times in the past, but had no luck getting tickets the last few years, would highly recommend to anyone of any age, there is literally something for everyone, kids under a certain age go free, there's special wristbands for the kids fields so u can't get in to the kids bits unless u have kids yourself soo much now than just the big acts shown on the telly, circus, comedy, food, green fields-make a wicker basket or some stained glass, meditation, the list goes on, fingers crossed for tickets next year

I have no issues with the festival music-wise but I don't do well in crowds and there are other things I would much rather spend my money on. I do like watching it on the BBC where I can pick the artists I want to see (assuming they are added) without the anxiety attacks of large crowds

I have been trying to catch up with the acts enjoyed Elton John and Cat Stevens will endevour to see some more, but I would never go to a big festival just stick to the local venues
