Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Ask a Question

How does everyone feel about this? It’s getting far more difficult to determine reality from fake creations. I can see it being easier for criminals, scammers and cheats. Can’t see what is positive about it yet. Humans can no longer do things, have talent for themselves.

It has it's uses I suppose but I'm not a fan.As an avid reader I abhor the fact that good penmanship will be taken over by machines.Destroys the creativity and originality of the author.

It depends on what you use it for. It makes my life a lot easier! My main use at the moment is with Photoshop where it helps me clean up images - tell it to remove objects and it will do so, usually a lot better than I could personally manage. Its also very useful in my line of work where I can tell it what I am trying to do and it will offer the best way to do it. Its usually very good at it.

At the end of the day it can and will make life easier in many ways. However as with any new technology there will always be those who use it for criminal purposes.

didbygraham I can see some things may be easier to do but still think computers have killed personal talent. Personally I think it could be viewed as lazy. I think the only real positive use it might have is for medical reasons.

People are already losing their jobs and being replaced by AI bots (for example, www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-66172234). Earlier this year an undeclared AI generated image was selected as the winner of a prestigious photography award - www.theguardian.com/technology/2023/apr/17/photographer-admits-prize-winning-image-was-ai-generated. SAG actors have just gone on strike and one of their concerns is over the use of AI. They are asking for a 'guarantee that artificial intelligence (AI) and computer-generated faces and voices will not be used to replace actors' - www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-66196357. The companies that create this technology have already shown they will put profits before everything else.

Although, AI image creating software can be quite fun to use. Just typing in a few random words can generate some interesting results. (www.bing.com/create)

I have already reached a stage where I no longer believe the authenticity of any images I see. If I see flawless skin, a very good figure (male or female), and many other things too numerous to mention I instantly regard them as being unreal.

I asked an AI for an essay on Kylie Jenner and it was riddled with inaccuracy. I pity some people who are thinks the bot knows it all.

Thats one of the main features of AI - it will get things wrong - but as we correct them it learns so over time will get more accurate and reliable.

I am not a fan of AI. Certain AI has its place and can be useful but there is just far too much that is unnecessary.

So many have predicted that AI will lead to the extinction of humanity, almost as if its a certainty. I mean if AI starts developing more intelligent AI and then those develop more intelligent AI etc pretty soon humanity is going to be utterly incapable of understanding and controlling AI which could be 1000s of times more intelligent than us. If you came into existence and your creators were bacteria are you going to be motivated to care and do the bidding of such simple animals. No one likes to go to war, as clearly as humans we don't want to die prematurely but if both sides have AI robots and war machines I just can't see us doing well out of it. Destroying the environment destroys our habitat and it is in a bad enough state as it is.

So much tech is being developed which will have a huge effect on the future of this world and I don't think many are trying to direct it in a positive way. I mean on face value it would be great to have an always beautiful robotic partner but of course it won't produce offspring and to create it will mean huge resources being utilised. If 5% of the population had artificial partners by the year 3000, perhaps 100 year old men with partners that look 16 designed by AI to be the most attractive males or females. So much is going on that will lead to a world that will change so drastically. AI partners that always say the right thing and do your bidding and are programmed to be perfect partners.

AI is ahead of the robot mechanisms needed to make a full function robot but its only slightly behind.

I watched a AI produced short movie about robots the other day. It was a weird film but enjoyable and already it is showing the future conflict between humans and robots and how robots will outperform humans easily overall.
