Asda Just Essentials Range Limits to 3 off Each Items per Customer

I was in asda to doing my shopping and I purchased some of the just essentials/smart price range and I picked up 4 packets of custard and was told I can only have 3 of them because they have set a limit now to 3 per person and the self service tills are set up to call staff members to alert 
if you scan more than 3.
I worked in Asda many moons ago and Uncle Sam and his cousins used to come in every night and empty the shelves of Smart Price noodles and rice almost as soon as they were put out, which left the regular customers without, if this is stop that type of shopping, I think it's a positive step as there's nothing stopping you from going back in and getting another 3 if you wanted to.
I read about it the other day, it's to try and stop things going out of stock until the new stock comes in, so that customers are able to get all the items in the range. Our local Asda still hasn't got the whole range, I am still waiting for the shampoo and conditioner
It's proved a really popular range with lots of people solely buying from that range and trying them out with the cost of living crisis and it's on all of the popular Facebook groups too. I think 3 of each is fair enough and you can always go in and buy more if needed. It's a fair practice given that so many people are trying to buy out whole shelves and leaving nothing left for others. Not that you were doing that, but plenty out there are so it makes sense shops are doing this even though it can be frustrating.
It's a fair policy because living in a city, we find shops and takeaways bulk buying in the supermarkets but personally, I don't get to go to Asda very often as it's a fair few miles so I do like to stock up on their sausages as they're the best prices for gluten free..might have to cut back on my sausage intake 
k4ren2006 I have seen this in aldi before a local takeaway buy bulk flour and sugar and now they refuse to sell it to him.
If they limit to three, you will need to come back another time and they will probably sell you more Products that you had not needed or intended to buy.
Howmuch I can understand why they are doing alot more people will be buying with this cost of living crisis but the first I knew about the limits was when got to tills never saw any signs near the products around the shop.
This makes sense to me, as I'm the sort of person if I see a great deal will stock up a lot. I've forgotten how much they are something like 24p for a tin of soup under the Asda essential range but many supermarkets including Aldi and Lidl charge a lot more for tin soup and to be honest often their soups are pretty horrible. They are more like 40-50p so the Asda essential soups are a lot cheaper, getting on half the price so when I'm in there I would be tempted to buy more than 3 of each flavour.
Asda have made the right decision to limit people emptying the shelves with a good offer. I rarely shop with Asda so I’m not even aware what items are in their basic range.
I'm all for it, fed up of seeing empty shelves on good value products and offers in supermarkets where people come and bulk buy and clean the shelves out.

We shop at Asda and I've started to buy this range, and I imagine many more people are doing the same as they do a brand switch to save money. What I don't get is why some people are finding it necessary to bulk buy, it's not like we're facing a shortage of chicken nuggets.
A limit of 3 is not a problem for us..but my neighbour's are a family of 7..so they say it makes it hard work for them being limited
I went to my local Asda and there wasn't one thing of essential food in there so I'm not surprised that there putting a limit on them
I couldn't believe this when I read it but can understand why, I have tried a few of their items and they are good value for money.
That's true for milk, but others you can order more as I'm making my list to order today.
Orders over £48 or more via TCB gets you £8.98 or something so that's great.
ah wow i didnt realise this. i guess it makes sense but then not ideal if you need a bulk by for gathering ect.
There was a Chinese restaurant next door to our local Lidl and they used to clean the supermarket out of veg every morning leaving nothing for anyone else.
Good on Asda for preventing the selfishness of some people.
TheChimp in that case it's genuinely selfish.
As it's a business and they buy in bulk, they should use Costco instead.
