Asda Teabags Ranked as the Best Tea Bags Overall in Which Survey

You would think if you are paying more for a branded product you would be getting better quality
But not so according to a survey done by ' which'
The survey involved 79 serious tea drinkers testing various brands and Asda teabags came top with a score of 72%.
They beat some of the top brands such as PG Tips ,Tetley and Twinings on taste
So you could say its ' in the bag '
Four other brands came a close second with a score of 70% , they were Aldi’s Diplomat Red Label , Co-op’s 99 Blend Fairtrade Tea, Waitrose Essential Original Blend Tea Bags and Taylors of Harrogate Yorkshire Tea , but prices were higher in some cases
I only drink white tea for the health benefits, although black tea has some benefits also , so i will drink this if white tea is not available
And its good to know you don't have to pay a premium for that cuppa

Mmm…not sure I think their green tea is any good, as most over here are rubbish. But may have to check out their black teas. Thanks for sharing
I’ve always bought branded tea bags, used to be Tetley then few years ago found this was producing a very bland and weak tea so changed to Punjana/Johnsons tea bags. My daughter only drinks Yorkshire tea so always keep supply of them for her but every time I call at my sisters for cuppa and catch up I always say bout how lovely her tea is. She uses Tesco own brand cheap teabags, not sure if it’s cos I’m being handed a cuppa I haven’t had to make myself but her tea is always delicious. Might be something in these cheap teabags
I have zero respect for Which as a consumer organisation and never trust their reviews and when it comes to tea just try yourself its all relatively cheap. I've tried most teas and the one thing I realise is I don't care most of the time which tea I buy I just adjust to its strength so leave it a little longer in the cup if a weaker tea and may put in more or less milk. Unfortunately as I'm a bit sensitive to caffeine I try to drink decaffeinated mostly and use the poundland decaffeinated tea which is one pound for 80 bags and that is very nice tea no better or worse than many other teas though. Don't know if the Which review includes that but again if its not a whole of market review it is pointless anyway. Tried some Lidl teabags ages ago and nothing wrong with the tea but it wasn't that cheap and the bags would occasionally break so stopped using it. Also bought some tea bags from poundstretcher and they also had a tendency for the bags to break if you stirred too aggressively.
Years ago I remember having Morrisons cheap tea bags which were something like 30p for 80 bags at the time and made my mother a cup of tea who is more fussy about brand but I forgot and she ended up with a cheap Morrison tea bag instead of PG Tips I think which she had at the time. She was none the wiser and when I said afterwards it was a Morrison tea bag she said it wasn't quite as nice but I'm not convinced she noticed the difference at all to be honest as normally she would moan about it while drinking it if it wasn't as nice.
telmel At the end of the day its just tea leaves and while the strength could vary I would of thought the product would remain broadly similar amongst brands. Is it Typhoo that does standard tea bags and one cup tea bags with slightly less tea in them but its the same tea. It's a different flavour as if you make it the same way as each other it is different strengths. I'm starting my diet today so I shall be cutting down on tea and sticking to coffee more as I can use sweeteners and oat milk with coffee but have to have real milk and real sugar with tea.
BonzoBanana Because i take white tea in bag form i dont put milk or sugar in it B, it has a slight sweet tang anyway , this is how it is defined

Everyone has different taste buds and it is down to personal preference. I really don't believe in these sort of surveys. Over the years have tried so many but could never recapture the taste of tea when I was younger so became a coffee drinker. However, my son passed on an unwanted Christmas tin of M & S teabags a while back and guess what? They were lovely. I now have to find them again as they were foil wrapped with no name anywhere that I could see.
I don't tend to trust the Which reviews, plus everyone has different tastes. I love the Lidl and Aldi own brand tea bags. I never buy branded tea bags. We have some in the staff room at work and I actually think they are weaker than the ones I use.
I love my Tea & very seldom drink Coffee. I buy Tetley or If I am back home In Wales for a visit I buy Glengettie as I like a strong cup. Never tried ASDA Tea. I just looked & they`re out of stock so I will have to wait. Typical, but worth trying them when they reappear though.
I've tried them I wouldn't say they was great to be honest I think Aldi gold are better for me anyway
Where it comes to food and drink, I never take any notice of these surveys , as we are all different and everything is down to individual taste .
Wife uses Asda tea bags and has gone for years, I'm not a tea drinker, I use Asda's own coffee and that's good stuff

I only drink one when I have lunch. She always buys Tetley and Yorkshire teabags when there’s reduced price offers. A big Asda store is far where we live and we just shop at Sainbsury’s, Tesco and Waitrose

I haven't tried Asda tea bags, used to always buy PG Tips but now converted to Aldi.
Yes Asda teabags are good, but I wouldn’t say they’re better than the likes of Yorkshire Tea or PG Tips. I would even say Tetley and Typhoo are better than Asda’s own brand too.
But it’s all down to personal taste and your budget too of course.
I prefer coffee, but sometimes drink tea, have pg tips normally but recently had to get tetley as well which I haven’t tried. Surprised with Asda though, I also heard they were the best with shreddies ( their version) not tried either.

had very strong opinions on the best tea. He forced me to buy Punjana, and would take Yorkshire at a push. I just want a hot wet drink and I don't think the flavour is the biggest thing, because I leave the teabag in while I'm drinking it anyway. He thought I was a freak for doing that.
Never tried Asda have tried others but always go back to Yorkshire tea, been away recently and didn’t take tea bags with me, never again couldn’t wait to get home to get a cup of my favourite Yorkshire tea
