Do You like or Attend Quiz Nights.
Other
Personally i love them but have not had the chance to go to one for years. My son has booked one for us, daughter in law and grandson for tomorrow with a meal included and i am so excited!
I expect it seems crazy to be so pleased to attend a quiz night, but you know what they say: little things please little minds.
Every Sunday night they had a quiz night in the pub I worked it was always busy and most of them would ask me for the answers like I had a clue
My daughter hosts quiz nights for charity once a month in her pub and I must say they are very popular. I have never been to one of hers but enjoy the quizzes when I go on the cruise ships.
eyeballkerry I have found cruise ship ones to be very amateur and badly organised but hopefully yours was a better experience.
Lynibis Our favourite one is Battle of Brodies on board the P&O ships. Two large teams just having a great time. Only the team leader wins a prize. But I don’t do it to win anything just enjoy joining in.
Lynibis How did the quiz night go? Did you have a good time? How may were in your team? What’s your specialist subject?
eyeballkerry hi. It is tonight so I will come back and let you know tomorrow. Just hope there are some history and literature questions as I am useless at most other subjects!
Lynibis You like history then. I was never interested in the subject at school but as I have got older I have become more interested.
eyeballkerry well we never learn from it but I find it fascinating. I am surprised you have not seen my many comments on the subject as I give history talks aside from watching documentaries. I can't read a book that is contemporary or modern, even if fiction. Fave author is Sharon K. Penman. If you like reading try The Sunne in Splendour. I will shut up now as folk on here will be thinking, oh my, she is going on about history again!!!
eyeballkerry well it was a lovely night out and the quiz was very well organised. However, I found the questions very obscure and the very old guy asking them did not speak very clearly so kept missing bits of very long questions, often with three parts and asked in a very confusing way! Needless to say we came last but in our defence there were only 3 of us. The other teams all had 6 and even 8 members.
They do a special quiz night menu with 4 choices for just £8 and my son and I agreed ours was the best fish and chips we'd ever had. Crispy fat chips and the lightest crispiest batter on the fish.
All in all a great night but no history or literature questions lol.
Lynibis Lovely to hear you had a good night out. It’s not about winning but just having a good time and enjoying yourself. Your fish and chips sound very nice.
I used to love a good pub quiz but I'm no good at them in most cases so it got a lot worse when was on my own no one to help
One of our locals has one on the last Thurs of every month. We have gone a couple of times, not regularly tho. Never won sadly. Enjoy!
Glitterandgold It's the two things I love most, being with my family and quizzing. If you go regularly there is always someone or team that wins every week. There was a guy on one of the teams where I organised quizzes who won every week and it did annoy everyone...no one likes a smarty pants lol. He ended up on The Chase.
Lynibis You enjoy what you enjoy, don’t put yourself down with it. Yeah I love a good quiz night too, I always as a youngster use to go with them Mum & Dad at a local pub. I still go to them now one every first Saturday at a local social club and occasionally one that’s run in a pub on a Wednesday- this one changes between being a pen and paper to one using the Speed Quiz app - depending on who’s the quiz person that Wednesday. The Saturday team is better than the Wednesday team although I see it as fun and I don’t take it seriously
Lynibis yes that’s definitely not the point, it’s about having a night out with friends and also everyone brings that random bit of knowledge. On the Wednesday night ones I tend to know a lot more as the Saturday nights are harder although we do have a “quizzer” and he knows loads. I’m there for the really random ones that a quizzer isn’t going to know
We went to one regularly every month for quite some years until some of our team (family) moved area. They were a nice evening out and mostly fun.
I like quiz nights at our local pub as it is a good way of socialising and getting to know new people who come along for the first time.Happy quizzing everyone. It is a good exercise for the brain!
I’ve only been on one when I was on holiday in Lanzarote, really enjoyed it.. we won bottle of champagne
No I've never been to a quiz night, it's just my thing, I play bingo sometimes in our local club when they have them sometimes
martinlufc5637 I play bingo every Tuesday at the old girls club. We use the number sheets over and over and use buttons to cover the numbers lol. Prize for a full house is choice of one of a selection of bars of chocolate. I was so embarrassed first time I went as I won two games in a row so I gave them to a couple of the old girls on my table
I haven't been to a quiz night for years but I always enjoyed them. Especially when there was a meal and it was a proper night out.
My partner, daughter & I love a Quiz Night, we started going to a Wednesday one earlier this year with our friends,a 4 sections, fastest finger first quiz, we won some of the sections..
On one occasion we won two sections giving us two £10 vouchers which we spent on drinks for the group & saved the rest for next time.
janphoenix51 that sounds lovely. Quiz night can be great if organised well. My son suggested we go at least once a month but I think we need to get a couple more team mates as three brains were no contest for the other, much larger teams.
I do like a pub quiz but don’t often go to one really. It is something i want to start doing in the winter
We had another quiz night a couple of weeks ago and I took along a very intelligent friend. It helped as we came 3rd from bottom this time. Who knows by next year we may come top!
I’m useless at quizzes but so is my friend. We rely on our husbands to answer unless there’s a Coronation St question
Pjran I find it's a question of asking the right question lol. I am sure yours and most others minds are filled with information but you usually get asked the wrong subjects. As everyone knows, I am a history geek but at both quizzes there has not been a history round. I am useless at sport but 15 in one quiz were on that subject!
