Awful Fires in Greek Islands, Whats Your Worse Holiday Experience?

Mine was in Portugal. We were staying on 10th floor of a hotel and someone set of a foam fire extinguisher in the corridor. It does not sound that bad now but at the time we felt trapped in our room. What’s is your worse experience?
Getting to the airport in Reus. Kids in tow. Got on the plane. Plane broke. Back to departure lounge. Told us to get out n come back in the morning. I riled up the other passenger. We refused to move. The got the police and their dogs. We still refused to move. We knew we were safe in an airport. They gave in kept it open all night. By the time I got home I'd been awake for 48 hours.

eyeballkerry I'm Scottish. We don't take well to our holiday being wrecked. You know what happened to the terrorists who tried to attack Glasgow Airport

Jerseydrew there's no way we were moving. The amount of vulnerable people on that flight ! Elderly and disabled folk. We just slept on the floors. Never caused any bother
Funny enough it was Rhodes. About 30 years ago now though. I liked the island but I chose to gamble on a cheap deal and have regretted it ever since. It was self-cater but we just had on and off power cuts, no air conditioning and it was so hot even then. You couldn’t flush loo paper as their system was primative and it stank so much! Most of the time trying to cool in shower and buying the biggest bottles of water possible! I heard some people came off well with these deals but we certainly didn’t! Holiday from hell. Boyfriend got sick heatstroke too! It was awful.
JLouM What an awful experience. I went to Rhodes many years ago, about 1989 and had a great time, stayed in the Blue Sky hotel. Not sure it’s still there now or got affected by the fires now.
Our worse holiday. Was in Turkey. Our. Hotel was running alive with rats. Even saw them in daytime in the pool around the area and in rooms we did get. Moved miles away to a better hotel
jdible We stayed in a villa in Portugal a few years back, it was very rustic but lovely location until we saw a rat running around in the day time. We asked to be moved.
A few years ago we were returning to our cruise ship from Athens to the port when we were caught in a flood and had to wade through water 2 feet high. our children were frightened, water was so dirty we couldn’t see our feet and knew we were walking on the road.
Pjran That sounds absolutely awful. I caught out in Majorca once, I was out on a bike ride and the heavens literally opened up. The worse part was we looked liked we had been in a wet t-shirt competition!
MelissaLee1 I remember I went on holiday when I was 10 with my dad, his second wife and my brother who was 12 at the time to the South of France. My brother got burnt by the sun on the tops of his feet, looked like the inside of a tree, you could see layer after layer. My mum was fuming with my dad when we got back.
My was when I was just 15 in Spain on a holiday with my friends family me n my mate shared a room we didn't drink a big group of lads from Newcastle kept climbing up or balcony 3 floors up and coming in our room ****** up in the night I woke up to one sat on my bed it was really scary we ended up packing our cases and sleeping in the reception area till her dad could get us an early flight home just so we was safe my very 1st holiday abroad not a good experience
jigsawx3x that's awful. I feel for the staff at the hotel and those like you that are just wanting to be left alone and not have to deal with stuff like that
Oh my goodness, that sound horrific. Obviously this was some years ago whereas now you would have got them arrested.
Was in gran caniria years ago. One in the group I was in kept getting drunk and starting fights. He was the friend of my friends ex who broke up with her 6 weeks before the holiday and ended up getting another person to take his place. One night he started a fight and the lad that took the ex place intervened and got beaten up as said person bottled it and left him to it. Both went flew home early. One with broken ribs and the other was told by the reps go home or end up being arrested for fighting
Huh! You were all lucky. I went over t'border to Bacup in Lancashire. Two bloody weeks living in a rolled up newspaper which doubled up as toilet paper! T'swimming pool was a septic tank and we were dragged out of t'newspaper at six every morning and drowned in t'septic tank before being forced fed sugared cockroach flakes with sour milk . Big treat of t'holiday was a trip tut local pub where we were attacked by t'local six fingered gang and chased back to Gods own country on our last night. Luxury!
This was so sad to see. One of the hotels affected we visited last year. It so said for everyone, the staff, the owners and the holiday makers. so so sad.
