Baby Shower Games?
Ask a Question
One of my best friends are having a baby and I am in charge of hosting the baby shower! Only problem is, I've never actually been to one. I've had a look on the internet but has anyone here got any recommendations of good games everyone can participate in? I hate forced fun and not everyone there will know each other so want everyone to be comfortable!
Smell the nappy. So put different things like Nutella, Biscoff, treacle, brown sauce etc and they have to guess what it is by smelling it x
possy This sounds like it could be a lot of fun!!! hahah I love it, thank you so much for the ideas xx
Another one is guess the weight, gender etc etc and see who is the closest when the baby arrives x
Not so much a game, but my friends bought a glass jar with a blue lid (because I was having a boy) and each wrote abit of advice etc for the baby, like be scared of your mum she’s scary, hahaha. Never change who you are etc etc and my son is now 7 and I still have them as a keep sake. Also this one doesn’t cost but it’s the most cherished one for me x
I hosted one for my sister when she had her first child.
When people arrived they all got 2 pieces of paper, one for their predictions for baby's name (we knew the gender), weight, arrival date and time, hair colour and eye colour' and the other for a message for the new mother and father and gathered them up to gift in a jar or frame for a later date.
Game 1:
I arranged pin the dummy on the baby (poster)
Game 2:
I crushed up some chocolate bars in nappies and people had to guess the numbered nappies.
Game 3:
Took the labels off baby food and people could taste them or guess by the look and smell of them (up to them!) People were in pairs or groups for this as some wanted to try it and others didn't, but that was cool with me, after all it was all about having fun!
I recently saw diaper pong board on Marketplace for a baby shower if you search it online there are many versions and easy to make.
I also arranged for a personalised baby girl cake, had some dips, drinks and snacks all laid out on a budget. I took some prizes with me for each game, only something small but they got to choose from a small selection of chocolate and bath products etc.
I also put together some party bags, some bubbles, sweets and cake etc. I wanted it all baby themed but this was a very last minute situation, so was more princess themed but she was having a girl and I wanted to include things that adults would actually use, like stationery too, so wasn't just waste. I ordered a sash for my sister that said mother to be and one for my mum which said grandma to be, I shown my mum and she sneakily arranged me an auntie to be sash that matched
At the end of the night, we all gathered some chairs in a circle and talked about advice, baby stories and my sister got to open some of the gifts. It turned out to be a decent night, even if it was all very last minute and on a very tight budget.
You can also print off some celebrity or family member (depends who is going to be there!) baby photos and people have to guess who they are, you can offer some suggestions or make them guess completely.
If you've got a decent amount of time, ask what most people have available on local free groups, some people will have random size nappies left which you can use and won't feel like wasting a whole packet if you use real nappies. Some people will have decorations that could work for free, same with paper plates and cups, they might have say pink or blue free ones that could work. Don't buy if you can save some from being wasted and don't have to spend anything too!
Everyone has to write dow the date they think the baby will be born. Very few babies arrive on the expected date, neither of mine did.
I like the idea of smell the nappy but let's give them some real smells to get used to if you know what I mean!!
