Which Band/artist Would You Have Loved to See but It's Now Too Late?
Other
My all time favourite band is Simply Red. I think i have all their CDs and as far as i am concerned every track is brilliant.
I now regret not having made the effort to see them in concert when younger and now it is too late. They were like a mini orchestra with an international cast and Mick Hucknell had a great voice.
One day you wake up and realise your favourites are either too old, no longer with us or disbanded.
Who do you regret not having got to see?
Queen; I mean the original Queen with Freddie Mercury as opposed to the new incarnation with Adam Lambert.
Freddie's voice was something else.
blacklabrador gosh yes, they would come a close second for me. But I am not usually a fan of live music (especially in pubs) I went to see Bob Dylan about 10 years ago for my granddaughter 21st birthday as she is a huge fan (has his head tattooed on her thigh) but I was bored to tears and felt he was too old for live performance.
MelissaLee1 I had an album of his and especially liked Witchita Lineman and Everyday Housewife, oh and By the Time I get to Phoenix.
oh shame . I went to see her story at my local theatre and I didn’t like it. But would of liked to see her Live. Don’t know how she managed in those heels
I get to see where I work now live, Edison Lighthouse "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)", Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mitch & Titch, The Legend Of Xanadu & Marmalade, Ob La Di. I see these artists twice a year. A few has passed from the groups but they are still good. I personally dont have a favourite as I grew up In the 80`s but If I did It would of been Debbie Gibson. Simply Red are good. Some great songs they did.
I've been lucky enough to see all the bands I grew up listening too, I'm not into mainstream music, looking forward to seeing slipknot at the end of the year in Leeds, I haven't seen them yet
martinlufc5637 showing my ignorance here as I have never heard of them but it's nice you have been able to follow and see the bands you like.
Lynibis I'm glad I got the tickets when I did, I paid £78 for them, a week later they increased the prices to £289, total rip off
martinlufc5637 Slipknot are fab live. You'll have a great time. Seen them in Newcastle couple year ago. My sons seen them several times. Personally Id really love to see stone sour, Coreys other band.
Glitterandgold yeah I'm looking forward to it, I'd like to see system of a down, that will be my next gig if they tour the UK next year
Auntielettie I have always loved Billy Connolly and it is so sad when you see your idols getting old and/or ill. He and Ricky Gervais are my favourites and I don't care how irreverent or offensive they are because I am not a snowflake.
I watch Billy Connolly a lot on YouTube.
I wouldn’t say regret but growing up I never got the opportunity to see any bands/artist live. I was really into Wham back in the eighties.
I've not seen too many live bands, the last one I saw was The Police, many years ago but if I could now I'd love to see George Michael.
As a student in Nottingham, I worked on the bar at the Nottingham Boat Club in the 60s to earn some extra cash.At the weekend singers and groups took to the small stage and at that time I did not know who they all were as I was too busy serving beer and ham sandwiches!
Alongside ol' Rocketman (who performed on keys as a teenager in a band called Bluesology), Led Zep and U2, there was, deep breath... Rod Stewart (six times!), Eric Clapton, Dire Straits, Ultravox, T-Rex, Iron Maiden, Jethro Tull, Jeff Beck, Rory Gallagher, Wishbone Ash, Supertramp, Judas Priest, Shakin' Stevens, The Sex Pistols, Motorhead and Def Leppard. This was all before they became famous.
But I never did get to see my all time favourite band Queen which never made it to the Boat Club as I think they were London based.
I bet there are people out there who went to the Club in the 60s.Those were the good times never to be repeated.
Gutted I'll never see Bob Seger. I adore his music. I think he only did one UK in the late 70s, before my time. When he did his farewell tour a couple years ago we did look at travelling for it but wasn't doable at time for us in end. Also Fleetwood Mac I would have loved. Looked to get Stevie Nicks tickets for Glasgow recently but the prices were outrageous.
Glitterandgold I always wonder if the artistes have any say in ticket prices. I guess it costs a lot to put on concerts etc not just the acts wages etc but they do seem to be far too expensive.
I would have loved to see songstress Sinéad O Connor , I think she had a gorgeous voice, sadly no longer with us...
I would also have loved to see Terry Hall, he also had a beautiful voice, the duet he did with Sinéad O Connor was beautiful...
Tina Turner. I said since I was young I would love to see her live, when I was old enough she had stopped touring, and now sadly not with us. I have her books love her films, just love her
possy ....I remember hearing Tina Turner when I was younger, she played Sheffield Arena & I was at home few mile up the hill on your way to Hillsborough mowing our lawn!!
Tina Turner died on my birthday so I won't forget her...
We would have liked to see The Alan Parsons Project, Journey, Boston, Santana, Matchbox Twenty, Chris Rea or John Miles live.
If you are talking more years ago than that.... then we would both like to have seen the original D'Oyly Carte productions of Gilbert & Sullivan operettas.
tumblespots must admit have only heard of one in your first sentence, Santana, I saw them at the Royal Festival Theatre over 30 years ago. Must admit wasn't keen especially as it was my birthday treat and after asking ME who I wanted to see HE then booked them as HE wanted to see them!
Lynibis That's awful, how can someone take you to a concert and pick the band they wanted to see! Here's a sample for each band, you might find you know some of them??
Alan Parsons Project
Journey
Boston
Santana with Rob Thomas (Lead singer of Matchbox Twenty)
Chris Rea
John Miles
Gilbert & Sullivan
There is quite a few I would have liked to have seen, but one always sticks with me as I had a ticket to go but couldn't due to not being able to get time of work, and that is Meatloaf
sallylester1 obviously I don't know the circumstances but I would feel very angry if I was not able to get a day off when I had paid out for an expensive concert ticket.
Lynibis sadly the lady I worked with could be quite harsh, I was a lot younger at the time so didn't stand my ground like I would now. As they say you live and learn !
Leannexxx gosh I had forgotten about the Bee Gees. They produced so many fantastic songs, I loved them all but I especially loved Immortality which they wrote for Celine Dion but also sang it with her. I often watch the reaction videos on YouTube and am always surprised that some youngsters have never heard of them, though I suppose it's logical.
Has to be Jimi Hendrix for me. A left hander playing a right handed guitar upside down and making the most amazing sounds ever
sylviawatts1963 Bee Gees were a band second to none when it comes to not just singing but songwriting too, often for other artists.
