Banks!

Other

Lots of branches are closing so ok I’ll go along with it and download and register for the app. Won’t accept my ID. Visit branch and they register for me. All good. I try to pay in cheque for first time following all the instructions and guides. It does not automatically scan and go green like it said it would. Tried all ways. Maybe it needs a refresh. I tried to re download and has deleted all my data and takes me back to beginning. I don’t have a pin reader so it says use our cash machine or visit branch for registration activation. So I have to visit the branch again. There’s only one left! The whole point is so I can pay in cheque WITHOUT visiting branch! This new age of banking is infuriating! Either make it work or have branches open.

I quite like using the Chase bank app, but, man, when logging in it can be a pain in the a$$ as the Passport needs to be scanned in a specific angle and when taking the selfie you have to smile (fine for me, although people with facial paralysis will have a problem with this). There isn't another way of logging in, currently.

I and others have been requesting Chase to allow us, the customers to log in via the website like the U.S. version of Chase lets their customers.

Moreover, Chase now has a community where users can give feedback: thechasecommunity.marupanels.com/ Will this actually mean they make changes for the better? We'll see.

Imagine if you buy a new phone and it's not compatible with the app or you can't log in and you have all your money in there... Don't do that. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

I last had a cheque well over a year ago. I had a spate of them from various PPI claims a few years back but rarely get more than one or two a year, now even less. It is a real pain though as although there is a branch in town they prfer you to use the automated paying in machines inside the branch - and nine time out of ten they dont work and I have to join the queue for the sole manned desk. Didnt know you could pay in at a post office which might come in handy as I have just been told to expect another ppi payment sometime soon - not sure if its a chque or not.

Was you cheque over £500 as I know that’s the maximum amount our bank app will take.

Don't you find it strange that we have an ever increasing population but banks are closing right, left and centre! I think the government should step in.

As far as cheques go, as mentioned above, I pay them in through the post office. It is very quick and easy.

I very rarely get cheques but when I do I always go down to the bank to put it in. I will either put it into the ATM or go in the branch. If it is a cheque for my sons account I have to go into the bank to pay it in.

MrsCraig I always used to too but they have closed all the branches except town centre. It’s not always easy to get to the town centre.

JLouM ours is also in the town centre. We are able to do most things on the app but occasionally have to go to the branch. I find it difficult to go during the week as it is normally closed after I finish work so have to wait till the weekend.

This is the issue with everything moving digital, when it works it’s very convenient but when it doesn’t work it can be a nightmare to get it sorted. It doesn’t help that, in my experience at least, a lot of the people in the bank call centre don’t actually give the correct information

TheChimp Elderly people still use cheques sometimes. My parents were ill and couldn’t get to a bank or cash machine so wrote me a cheque as they owed me some money.

JLouM I know what you're saying.

MrsChimp's parents write her cheques because they don't have cash ready and don't use online banking.

FatherofChimp is the same, he won't do online banking because he's paranoid.

Sad, really.
