I hate him. Graffiti is Graffiti and that's what his "art" is.

LL81 is all graffiti in my eyes. Its only worth money because people are clearly insane these days. I can't wait until he gets outed and arrested.

Jinky67 gosh, you hate someone you don't know?

He has more talent in his little fingers than I have in my whole body. His art is beautiful and blends into the surroundings, I don't regard it as graffiti at all, which is just a load of ugly scribble. I guess you would sooner have bare, grey concrete than colourful art, which of course is your prerogative.

Lynibis I hate everything he stands for🤣and yep I'd rather look at a nice brick wall

LL81 Isn't it graffiti because he's doing it without permission? Aren't murals requested?

(I'm not disagreeing it's art - graffiti counts as a type of art)

I don't know what you mean by 'tags'.

It’s ok. Prefer it to the other graffiti that’s around. But art? it’s ‘street’ art for sure

He pretends he's against the "system," but if anything he's no better than they are.

And what he does is vandalism.

PhilipMarc I think vandalism is dull, grey, boring concrete that people have to look at every day. Would much sooner look at colourful art.

Lynibis Your opinion is interesting as personally I don't find his work very 'colourful' at all. His technique is obviously gd but aesthetic wise, it seems rather dark than colourful.

I don't know too much about his work but I think his work is used more as a political stance/expression instead of just art. It seems like a calm way of protesting and raising awareness.

I've been to Sheffield and seen a whole street of colourful graffiti/street art, that really brightened the day even though it was dull english weather. If I walked along a road full of Banksy's art, I think it'd be rather depressing.

hky you are probably right as they are quite often greyish with a splash of colour, like the little girl holding a red balloon. I was particularly thinking of the bright yellow Freddie mercury one with a green watering can spraying some flowers.

Bansky is an amazing artist in my eyes, I’d love him to “graffiti” my house wall. I can understand people saying it’s graffiti but you also have to admit his work is pretty amazing

chele44 I agree, can't understand people hating on him. Mind you those recent black ones don't look at all like his work, I think someone is trying to emulate him and not succeeding, unless he is losing his touch.

I like them especially the most recent ones which all give a feeling of movement e.g the swinging monkeys. The latest one of the black cat I particularly like as I am a real black cat fan.🐈‍⬛

I like them, the more the better, I like the fact their identity is not known, anyone who says it's graffiti needs to give their head a wobble

The fact that he does in fact produce something artistic with talent I’m not against him. If it was just mindless vandalism that would be different. I am still mystified as how he manages to keep it very secret though in some very public places. It must still be a criminal mind or something to be able to achieve that. Is it cctv blind spots, in full dark clothing and very quiet? Are spray paints quiet?

I like a lot of banksy murals and think they do sometimes have important things to say. I remember in my younger days i hung around with some graffiti guys and they weren’t fans because they found it annoying how a lot of the same people who would call what they do vandalism, would then love what banksy does.

For me personally i love all street art, including graffiti

You have to remember graffiti or cave drawings started more than 50,000 years ago, possibly a lot longer , as many are yet to be discovered

So i consider his art just an extension of that , but on exteriors

And the girl with the balloon he only managed to partly shred at Sotheby's was pure genius , no other artist has ever done something similar, as far as i know

His art is open for interpretation like all art, everyone can see something different… And his incognito personality definitely adds some intrigue. Very clever
