Make Your Bathroom Smell Amazing with This Top Tip!

Other

I have just discovered this amazing trick to make your bathroom smell amazing all the time for pennies!

All you need to do is put two caps of your favourite fabric conditioner into the toilet system, this will sit at the bottom of the tank for ages and every time you flush it gives your bathroom the most amazing fragrance !

I also read thiss the other day and thought it was a good idea but it's not advised by plumbers as adding fabric conditioner to a toilet tank can cause clogs over time. Fabric conditioner is hydrophobic, so it can stick to the inside of the tank, toilet bowl, drain lines, and other components. This can eventually clog the connection between the tank and bowl, which can reduce the toilet's flushing power. Fabric conditioner can also build up in the drain, causing a partial or complete blockage.

jillylovesyou It's a nice idea but wouldn't want it to cause any problems for you at a later stage.

I wouldn't do it as it will most likely clog the toilet flushing system. Apparently according to plumbers it will have same effect as pouring a cooking grease down your drain.

SebK84 only done it once, will I get away with it or should I try and flush it through?

So glad I did this chat as looks like it could have been a very big and expensive mistake!!

SebK84 I did see this on one of of the social media sites and was a bit concerned about it clogging. The mess it makes in the washing drawer is bad enough.

I don't put neat fabric conditioner down the toilet but simply rinse out a finished bottle into the toilet to give it a little freshen up.

You’re not going to believe this but I tried this Wednesday! I didn’t use shop own brand but it only lasted one day.

You shouldn't put Fabric conditioner into your toilet system as it will clog the system. It's a nice idea to get it to smell nice but will cost you in the long run.

Yes fabric softener would make your bathroom smell nice but not recommended due to clogging up your drains & potentially damaging the working parts In your toilet systern. Also as a note, I would not use bloo systern toilet blocks either as these will deteriorate your rubber seals.

I’m assuming this is because fabric softener has a really strong smell??could this not be pour into a small bottle/container left open so it smells in the room or have I missed something here ??

An alternative to pouring it the tank is to gently dab some on the inside of the toilet roll.

I did a ‘hack’ once involving fabric conditioner ! I was told if I put watered down fabric condition in my steam iron it would make my ironing smell gorgeous. It did work for the first few times….. then clogged my iron and I had to buy a new one 🥴

I use bicarbonate of soda and Vinegar to clean. Works well and you can put things like lemon in it or any essential oils if you wish

Don't buy expensive cleaning spray products for the bathroom, make your own

Try diluting a liquid floor cleaner , use a supermarkets own brand they are usually cheaper, and dilute it to your desired strength and fill and empty spray bottle

Then after each toilet use spray inside the bowl , it not only cleans it but smells nice too , there are many different scents to choose from

You can also do the same with liquid bleach, but you have to be careful spraying this, if the mist hits the air and touches your clothes it will stain them immediately

In the winter when the radiators are on I dip baby wipes in fabric conditioner and sort of hide it in a small tray of tin foil between the front and back of the radiator. So it doesn’t rust the radiators.
