What Strategies Can I Use To Discourage Early Rising?

My son (8) doesn't like getting up on school days but gets up early when it isn't school to go play on my laptop. I caught him around 6 one day and he told me he went down at 4 another. If he gets bored he goes back up and wakes his brother up (7) it gets worse in summer months as gets light early. I need a way to stop him getting up too early preferably without waking everyone else up the rest of us prefer to get up around 8 if no school or work
You could take your laptop up to your bedroom at night and tell him that’s what you’re going to do. Also take tv remotes too.
Imnotcheap Find somewhere safe every night to hide them. Maybe locked in the car in the garage.
I am no expert but this needs resolving now. First black out blinds so the early morning light does not wake him. He needs to be tired the night before so he needs sleep. Can he play outside to tire himself out. Finally as suggested take the laptop away. Remember you are the parent, you make the rules.
eyeballkerry we have got blackout curtains for his room somewhere. Strange thing with young children taking them the park leaves them more energised
I agree about the blackout blinds. IKEA have some concertina type paper ones that work really well and are cheap enough to take an extra set on holiday or nights not at home
Also can your child tell the time yet? A bedroom clock is invaluable, You can then state what is an acceptable time to leave the bed.
That's a tough one, I'd be tempted to negotiate a deal that if he gets up for school well during the week he can use the laptop from 6.30/7am on non school days. Some kids I think are just early risers, my son can get up anywhere between 5am and 8am and it makes no difference what time he's gone to bed or what we've done the day before.
Midnightflower I've found going out and using energy makes them more energised somehow. He likes playing with his best friend and older sister (away at uni)

Turn the wi fi off and change password or whatever. He is old enough to be reading some classic books put by his bedside until the household wakes, or Roald Dahl, Horrible histories etc. Don't give in, you are the boss. Put all consoles, laptops etc in a box by your bed, locked if necessary.
Children need to know you mean what you say and at that age he needs 10/11 hours sleep. If you don't have blackout curtains it would be an investment.
