What is the Best Competition Prize You Have Ever Won?
Ask a Question
For all those who love entering competitions, what is the best prize you have ever won?
My mom used to enter loads of them when I was growing up, she always sending loads of postcards with her entries on.
SamGoodship - Lots of cash prizes from £5 - £100. I too used to do the postcard type of entries like your mom.
jam45 I remember she used to pay for like a few a4 sheets full of competitions and we would sit writing the SAE for ages
I have won many prizes during my time at LD. Not sure which one I would say was the best, but I am still chasing a big holiday
So far, I have won holidays (short ones), cash, TV's, tech items, vouchers, etc..
JLouM If you enjoy it, keep at it.
Otherwise your time might be better used doing something you enjoy, as no win is guaranteed.
I enter significantly less than I used to, more people are also entering these days, there are competitions everywhere. Looking for low entry competitions, those that require effort or local with prize collection may help you see some more wins. So if you are on social media, follow local shopping centres that may hold regular competitions or garden centres.
I've won 4 prizes in May so far, been accepted to trial 1 product - some body wash (just have to try it, leave an honest review and I get to keep the full product) and claimed a 1 voucher - Family National Trust voucher to hopefully use which is worth around £26 I believe (Not sure if that was a draw or a given though.) The 4 prizes worth £148.99
Try this one, especially if you have a Hungry Horse nearby and drink or know someone who does, it has a total of 28,024 prizes available with the top prize being a £2000 holiday voucher.
Best prize was an overnight stay in a swanky hotel in the sky suite room.
We did a chocolate truffle making class, had afternoon tea, a 3 course dinner, breakfast and then a hamper to take home.
hanalya oh this was way back in 2010! But I entered the competition from Olive Magazine, on their website I think.
snoogans888 do you buy different magazines & then participate in competition from them
hanalya no I stopped buying magazines as they’re too expensive. Most magazines have a website and their competitions on there to enter.
I have won a few in the past, probably my best one was a weekend away to a Warners hotel. My husband won a PlayStation 4 when they first came out and my children won a computer from the tv programme Milkshake.
£50 Amazon voucher, Shoes £265, £500 Ancestry survey site, mulled cider/crisps/mugs bundle, chocolate and the saga of the posh silk scarf that I had to travel to London to collect.
lilyflower thats really awesome any particular suggestion or tips where people actually win apart from here
hanalya No particular suggestions but I tend to 'earn' more from survey sites than comp wins. If you have children in the family Toppsta is good for books, sign up and click all the ones you fancy, if you get the book you then do a quick review.
hanalya I use Lifepoints (voucher), YouGov (pays out at £50 cash or voucher), Panelbase (pays cash), Ipsos and Branded Surveys. Others on here may be able to suggest more.
hanalya They are other websites, not Twitter.
Twitter have loads of accounts that host competitions, you have to be careful and any winning notification you get you need to make sure is from a genuine account too, if someone asks you to click a link to fill in your details via a social media post or message, it is most likely a scam message, report and block is best or ignore it. You have to be super careful.
If you enter via other websites too though, you need to make sure you don't accidentally enter more than allowed, as you can disqualify yourself.
Well done AnnaLevermore £1000 would be very welcomed here Fantastic win!
hanalya you get to know the signs.
But most companies will never ask for any details other than an email address OR a home address and possibly a telephone number. They should not be asking you to go to an external link or message a different account from the original.
on Social media:
Legitimate big companies so a store like B&M, if you go to their genuine website, then click the twitter icon (usually in a tab, at the top or bottom of their webpage) it will take you to the genuine twitter account - if you get a message or notification, hover over the response to see if it is exactly the same account name, same followers and if you are following them etc.
A lot of big businesses will have a GOLD tick on Twitter (not blue one, people can pay for a blue one on Twitter, so it doesn't mean anything.) not all businesses are verified though and the BLUE tick on Instagram, if you hover over the tick it should say Verified. Also a BLUE tick on Facebook, if you hover over the tick on Facebook it should say - Facebook confirmed that this Page is authentic.
Also if the original page responds to your comment on Facebook their name should have a 'Author' grey tag next to their name on the reply.

I was pregnant with my 3rd child & had bout 7/8weeks left to go. I’d been paying off my pram & was getting sorted to pay last payment & pick it up when I got phone call to say I’d won a brand new pram. I was able to go to shop where I’d left my pram over in & use the money I’d already paid on lots of other baby stuff that I wouldn’t have been able to afford without my win. Was a beautiful pram that I used for my daughter & then my son 16mths later
Won a holiday of a lifetime for my wife to Costa Rica a few years ago! Quite a few prizes, mainly food based hampers etc over the last few years too.
Loads of shows ,plays and concerts.A holiday to Paris,£1000 ,a TV and an Ipod.Loads more besides.
The best I've won is just over £200 worth of Disney toys. I wasn't even informed I'd won so was a big surprise when two big boxes arrived. I wish companys would send a email to inform you if you win. I might have won a even bigger prize. But lots of things go missing as my address is hard to find.

I won a huge hamper of rum including 2 bottles, cups, juices& a drink dispenser. In addition they added £250 spending money (as a rum lover this was a great prize)
Haven't entered a competition for a long while now. Besides, I don't have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or whatever which they tend to require.
My best prize was a trip to Bangkok done by collecting wrappers from the Kit Kat two finger bars and then coming up with the winning code.I didn't go to Bangkok as I thought it wasn't really a family holiday place.I asked Kit Kat if I could go somewhere else which they agreed to and so we went to Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands and flew there on Christmas Day.This was 30 years ago and I have been comping ever since. You can win, just keep trying and enter as may competitions as possible.Good luck everyone.
I've been lucky in a few competition's. I won tickets to a film premiere at Leicester Square, I've won £50 giftcard on just eat.
The odd £10 gift cards for Amazon and in 2017 I won £30000 on the postcode lottery.
