Still technically illegal to use them I believe. Only the rental models are legal as they are going through a trial to see the overall safety of them. A weird situation where you can legally rent but not own. You may find there are uk forums with advice on e-scooters. I'm not sure Latestdeals would want to have much in the way of e-scooter information due to the legality of them. There are many larger more powerful e-scooters which will never be legal so if choosing perhaps choose a model which is going to be legal when the regulations do come in rather than being confiscated and crushed.

BonzoBanana we had to meet up in town yesterday with some family and there were two boys travelling at speed through the pedestrian area narrowly missing people. I’m sure that was their game.

A teenager has recently been arrested for knocking someone over whilst on an e-scooter. I would be very wary when buying him one as they still aren't technically legal to use.

janphoenix51 they are really dangerous. Luckily I haven't encountered any where we live but I've heard so many horror stories.

A fifteen year old boy died in our village last week on one of these, absolutely tragedy. He was hit from a car going in the same direction at 10pm at night. We are a small village but this story made all the major newspapers.

Definitely still illegal to use. I read somewhere that you will need tax, insurance and to take a test. You won’t be allowed to use on a path

Geekygamergurl How much will they "tax" a zero emission vehicle?

Carlton1512 read the road traffic act 1988 which states they (e scooters) are classed as motor vehicles Which means the rules that apply to motor vehicles, also apply to e-scooters including the need to have a licence, insurance and tax.

Geekygamergurl I'm well aware of the Road Traffic act thanks, but again how much will they charge a zero emission electric scooter? Clue: Tesla's pay £0. Ford Mach-E's pay £0. So therefore electric scooters will pay....

Carlton1512 I'm sure I heard or read somewhere that the vehicles with £0 tax will be changing and everyone will be paying some tax (no idea on costs or when). I have no idea on scooters tho other than I felt they are illegal to use in public areas

As others have said there have been alot of serious injuries and even deaths caused by escooters. I would research the safety issues further before considering buying one.

I see a few of them about, but personally I'd not risk using it as you'd be sharing the same space as cars, trucks, and buses.

They really need to tighten rules and laws for e-scooters.

As far as I know they are illegal to use. You can use thrm in certain parts of France. But as far as I know the UK isn't on it yet. There's tech where the electric cuts when being used where it shouldn't be. This is what France use. I was talking to copper about it (on a safe aware with the kids at work last year and one part with the police on road safety)

This is something I wouldn't even contemplate but you need to do your research.
