With some big retailers struggling which firm do you think will go next.
Is this the end of the high street
I think it will be another expensive / higher end store.. they don’t seem to do well these days when competing with the likes of B&M, Primark, poundland etc.. I’d say it will be John Lewis or Next..
sarahgreen15 I think you may be right it could be John Lewis as I believe they were already closing some of their stores
It does seem that the larger stores are going bust at an alarming rate. But.... that could be good for consumers in the long run as the individual shops could return (at least, I hope so). Wasn't it great in the old days when you could go to a shop that you knew would sell what you wanted. I found that the independents offer a better and friendlier service, probably because they know they depend on repeat business. 
I can see New Look disappearing, as they seemed to be struggling before this. I don't want to see an empty high street, but if rent and business rates are high, who can sustain their businesses?
I'm always surprised WH Smith haven't gone to the wall. I used to love going in there as a child but they feel so outdated now
Same. It's not so much the outdated thing for me though, it's so expensive compared to anywhere else for what it sells.
The reason they haven't struggled so far is their Airport and Railway Station shops . The High Street shops have been unprofitable for years .
Now that the airports have virtually died and rail travel is down they could be very close to going under unless there is a speedy increase in travel - which I doubt .
Golfforall that's a really good point actually. I only use the high street one near me for the Post Office, but use airport and train station shops a bit more if I'm desperate.
INTU which owns many of the large shopping centres (including the Trafford Centre ) has gone into administration because the big name stores in its centres can't /won't pay their rents .
You could surmise that any big store without an internet presence is vulnerable . Primark is one example , although owned by Associated British Foods ( a mega food company ) I cannot see it surviving without an on line offering .
Probably one of the food chains, maybe pizza express. If they have to limit customers when they reopen, then I can’t see how they can dig themselves out of a hole
Most of the pubs will definitely go with British weather who wonts to stand outside.
