Bins Overflowing because of Staff Shortages with Covid

In the News

It is bad enough at normal times but worse now with christmas waste building up because there are not enough healthy workers to dispose of the extra rubbish

I can imagine how much extra cardboard , boxes and paper , to name a few xmas wrappings that have accumulated to cause this problem

And i expect it is not just down south, it must be all over the country

It's a cold season (but the weather in U.K. is hardly ever good) so some use it as an excuse to do that job.

Not something everyone is willing to do, anyway.

I agree P, it's a thankless job at the best of times

At least it's not summer , the scrap turkey legs would be humming if it was hotter

We has a missed collection last Wednesday. Strangely enough, they came just after 2.30AM. (Honestly) On Sunday morning. Must have been milking that for the Sunday overtime rate. Or maybe I am judging badly.🤫

telmel They often come anytime after 5am. We (live very near the Refuse site). A lot of our neighbours complain they are woken to early. But, to me I would rather they do that, than leave rotting rubbish in the street.

We have an arsonist on our hands lol. My dad was the bonfire king. Nothing was sacred. He set fire to everything! He nearly became a fireman but preferred pork pies, faggots and sausages so became a butcher instead lol.

It doesn't take long to break down your waste and increase the amount of rubbish you get in your bins, if people thought outside the box they could half the problem also the council should be increasing the amount of collection bins to help stop the rubbish be dumped nearby.

I suspect they would like to increase the bin collections - but it all costs money - and that's without all the staff shortages. Id just like to see a decent and cheaper bulk waste collection from our council as so much just gets dumped these days.

I fancy that there are probably quite a lot of people who are calling in as Covid positive to avoid a return to work not lastly those who are paid low wages for long hours in nasty jobs. We need to treat our workforce with increased respect and dignity and stop dishing out bucket loads of cash to people who get paid for signing paperwork and sharing money secrets with their mates!
