Birthday Cards and Wrapping Paper
Ask a Question
Where do you buy good birthday cards at cheap prices? I used to buy them from the card factory shop 5 for £1, I haven’t been there for a while now. Last time I bought one from Sainsbury’s just to collect Nectar points with grocery shopping.
As for wrapping paper it’s best to get them when you see them at a reduced price! Or I reuse wrapping paper lol nothing wrong with that!
kitty88uk I usually pop into town at least once a week. We still have a quite few shops left which I go to, do miss Wilkinson.
eyeballkerry yeah there’s no Wilko anymore here in Leeds, need to pop into Poundland see what they have, there’s many designs not even nice and pricey too!
kitty88uk Our Wilkinsons has been replaced with a B&M. I go in there but it’s not the same. It will take a while to get used to.
eyeballkerry is that so, I like b&m it’s really busy but the one is far away by car takes maybe 20 minutes not sure lol if there was a store in town centre would have been good where Wilko used to be
How is it not the same? They offer more items don’t they? Like foods etc way more than Wilko did
kitty88uk I think we just got so used to Wilkinsons with the layout and products, even got to know the staff. B&M has a lot more aisles which are slimmer and higher, felt very claustrophobic. We know go early on Sunday morning before 9am when no one is around and other shops do not open until 9am.
eyeballkerry is that so that’s nice getting to know the staff members too
Oh is that so, I didn’t know that they open early
Last time went there think 2 or 3 years ago lol we used to go to Morrisons as it was just across the street and would pop into b&m see what they have as some of the items were cheaper in there
I have stopped buying wrapping paper. I reuse the packaging paper that comes in Amazon deliveries, it's really good quality paper. If I have the time and or patience I draw pictures on the wrapped gift, if not I just add a nice bow on top. It's good for packages in the post too.
Auntielettie ah yes I always throw them away to recycle cause it’s very bulky I didn’t think to reuse them lol id have to flatten out the paper first in order to use it but that’s a good idea thanks!!
That’s nice of you to do that, what pictures lol what do you draw? Putting a bow sounds easiest haha
Auntielettie haha I’m the same I’m not so artistic whatsoever lol and I’m not that creative at making or sewing things!!
I buy a big roll off places like studio or amazon. I get it in bulk so I don't buy it often. I don't do cards cos I'm rubbish with cards
Jerseydrew reusing gift bags is a good idea for gifts and wrap them in tissue paper lol
Yeah there’s an Xmas long vertical bag for wines I’ve kept it to reuse it when it’s the season again this year
kitty88uk when I've had to buy a gift bag I purposely don't write on the label so the recipient can reuse it.
Jerseydrew yeah that’s good! And nice of you to do that!! Yeah the gift bags with on them that we get are not written either so I reuse them too when we get them lol and if I see the wrapping paper has a nice design I carefully open them lol
Jerseydrew Yeah nothing wrong with reusing wrapping paper is there’s a good designs on them lol helps you save money and if you are careful enough when unwrapping gifts
Jerseydrew Yeah we do to! These gift bags costs a lot of money! I had a look at birthday cards at M&S and knew would be pricey! One card costs £2.50 or more! Damn ridiculous! Forgot to go to card factory, Sunday was so hot only went to town to get free boxes of glazed donuts from Krispy Kreme lol
I often use Moonpig but I’m beginning to begrudge the cost. I like to personalise the card with a photo or their name.
The cards are £3.99 standard size then postage fee to add on as well. So it’s quite a luxury.
Pjran I dunno I had a quick look and didn’t look at all of the card they had there
I think the local shop up the road may sell cards too as they sell toiletries too but I don’t buy them cause it’s not worth it very expensive whereas other supermarkets much cheaper with reduced prices on items or using nectar card saving money. I mostly buy skincare items from Superdrug as they always have sales offers
Jackscot Okay yeah it’s possible it’s changed to that now in the shop here in Leeds thanks for letting me know. It’s still a good price of four cards for £1!
Other items of gifts too expensive to buy! I buy online where there are sales or even have a look at supermarkets too as they always have reduced items
Jackscot I see yeah they do reasonable and affordable prices for cards and gifts for any occasion. Will need to go and have a good look around and see what there is! Have a friend whose birthday is soon but man the heatwave is annoying lol I forgot to go last Sunday while I was in town

kitty88uk ...
I have had some absolutely amazing cards from Ron's Card Shop in Sheffield over the years..
My oldest Nephew Damian was born on July 4th to my oldest sister...
22 years later my youngest Nephew Logan was born on July 4th to my youngest sister!!
I found a square 3D Birthday card with the typical American scene including the yellow taxi & statue of Liberty..
That beautiful card was something else & cost me a mere 50p, I sent it to Damian who absolutely LOVED it
Logan was only young & wouldn't appreciate it.
Remember those Violent Veg cards, I was buying them at 50p then 25p ..All around Sheffield they were selling between £1.55 & 1.95...
I had loads, gave them to family & friends in Sheffield, Portadown Northern Ireland & Lancashire..
Still got loads left in my 4 drawer card collection !
janphoenix51 so you mean the what looks to me is a potato with eyes in football clothes? Haha cute and funny holing beers wow at 25p!!
Ebay , B&M also have a variety. I couldn’t get a Father’s Day card ordered one off Ebay was shocked at what arrived as small so read the small print. However I got another one at Sainsbury’s and he preferred the Evay one especially because of the words.. trust your instincts.
LL81 I haven’t been to B&M in a long time we don’t have one nearby closest shop is near Morrisons and both is at an area which is maybe 20 minutes or more away depending on traffic
I went to the card factory on Sunday bought a nice design with a and costs just 29p!! Or four for £1 saving 16p
LL81 I know lol completely forgot I was with shopping buying items then saw card factory and went there trying to find the 4 for £1, found the 99p ones and then saw the 29p ones and just bought one card
I have some wrapping paper but the are Xmas themed ones lol
One I went to was kinda big store inside a small shopping centre and there’s another shop just outside nearby
