Blackpool Zoo hiring workers in seagull costumes to scare the gulls away
In the News
Well i suppose they do it at Disneyland to attract people so why not at the zoo to repel seagulls ?
Apparently there is a big problem at the zoo with seagulls attacking people eating at the cafe/restaurant , the gulls already regularly swoop on people for their food on Blackpool promenade especially when eating fish and chips, and have now found another venue
The zoo have tried other methods to repel them like dummy hawks on the roof , that didn't work so they came up with the idea of hiring people in seagull costumes to scare the gulls away
You could say the zoo is very 'Gull ible ' believing this might work
From what i have seen the seagulls up north are very determined where food is concerned

Living where I do I get it. Seagulls have no shame and will ****** food even if its about to go in your mouth
Jerseydrew I have seen it myself J, they usually leave a calling card on you as well
Yup also on the car. It's annoying. Thankfully it's raining so some of the bird mess is being washed off my car as we speak
People have been complaining about the seagulls where I live for decades. I've personally never had a problem with them.
Surely someone dressed as a lion, tiger, orangutan, polar bear, etc would be a more effective deterrent
Imnotcheap They gave the e mail address at the end of the article for anyone wishing to apply for the job, so you could see it working , or not, first hand I
No good for me either I, imagine how much weight you would put on with everyone feeding you chips all day
I saw this and thought what a way to make a living, but I know how aggressive seagulls can be. Hitchcock's the Birds wouldn't be the same, if they were scared of a guy dressed up as a bird
beccatavender I think if they were cat costumes the gulls might be a little more afraid B , possibly
The sea gulls are just as bad down south, they seem to be everywhere waiting to swoop down on you.
