Puppy That Chewed His Owner's Toe Down To the Bone May Have Saved His Leg

In the News

This story beggars belief and makes the dog a hero

This owners bulldog pup had almost chewed his big toe down to the bone while he was asleep

It was only the screams from his wife that awoke him

It turns out his whole leg was numb due to two blocked arteries

If the dog had not chewed his toe and his wife alerted him he would never have realised about the blockage and could have possibly lost his leg

I have heard this type of thing a lot, apparently dogs can sense illnesses in humans because of their ability to analyze smells , they have more than 100 million sensory receptor sites in the nasal cavity, but they normally just lick the areas where there is a problem and not chew

As Donny Osmond sang 'And they called it puppy love'

Animals are brilliant for stuff like this. The amount of stories you hear where the human would have died if the animal hadn't alerted them

30,000 people are killed by dogs per year though. I think dogs are lovely too but they also kill a lot of humans. They also kill a lot of other animals. 3rd most deadly animal to humans.

telmel That is a very good point, I'm sure humans should be up there as no.1. In which case dogs are no.4 plus I suspect many more than 30,000 dogs are killed by humans. For a start there are many countries in Asia that eat dogs. Also I'm sure many dogs are zero risk to humans like this one maybe?
