Would You Buy This New Vegetable Ice Cream ?
Ask a Question
Is this the healthiest ice cream on the market ?
This new ice cream is targeted at kids who wont eat their veg
It is called smugglers ice cream , as the manufacturer 'smuggles' vegetables into it without it being noticed , which means the kids get some vegetables and extra vitamins by eating it
They have two flavours at the moment, Chocolate with hidden beetroot and Vanilla with hidden parsnip and i think the cost at £5 is not unreasonable for a 460 ml pot for sale at waitrose
It has no competition , in 2014 Haagen Dazs did try a Spoon Vege ice cream in Japan, with cherry tomato and carrot but it failed to catch on , lets hope this brand is more successful

Jerseydrew I am not sure if i would go for this , although i do like strange ice cream flavours, i had liquorice ice cream in iceland , loved it, so on reflection i would give it a go
I can understand trying to hide veg but how much ice cream would others child have to eat to give several portions of veg a day? Easier to liquidise and make gravy.
Yes... I like trying new and different types of ice cream. I like beetroot and parsnips. There are some places that already sell beetroot cakes and/or lattes (plus there are a lot of recipes online).
I would have to try them, but then Ill try any new icecream, I can find. Cant say I find it that appealing though even a a full on veg loving vegatarian!
If they masked the flavour well enough I don’t see why not. I am a fan of vegetables anyway though so pretty pointless for me. I think a sweet potato flavoured ice cream could be pretty tasty
I've heard of beetroot brownies before so it could work. Only problem is my kids don't like ice cream, they love ice lollies though.
MelissaLee1 I will eat any flavour M just to try it , not sure about japanese wasabi flavour though , the japanese like things hot
telmel - You can buy a bag if frozen vegetables yourself, cook it, puree it and add it to ordinary ice cream.
I’d give the beetroot and vanilla ago, as I’ve only recently discovered beetroot chutney to have with cheese and it’s awesome so would think would work well, as sweet and savoury often goes together
If I was a parent I wouldn’t tell my kids though
I wouldn't try It as I think I am Old Fashioned. Full Fat Ice Cream for me the same as Milk. Wouldn't be any other way.
