Woman mistakenly has someone else's cat cremated

In the News

This cat definitely has nine lives when he survived a supposed cremation

The owner was on holiday in Turkey when the neighbours kids said they had found her cat dead in the pond, they even showed her via the doorbell camera

Extremely upset , she arranged for her cat, Ted to be cremated at a cost of £130 while she was away

Then 4 days later while she was still on vacation , a friend , who was feeding Teds sister cat couldn't believe what she saw, Ted , her cat , coming in through the cat flap

The cat had definitely got her tongue

It turned out it wasn't Ted who had drowned , but a similar cat !

Of course she was so relieved , but a bit peeved she had paid £130 to have someone else's cat cremated

Oh well, Ted can spend his old age on 'golden pond' , but hopefully not in it

Not surprised. Was informed by someone who left the veterinarian industry they make all sorts of mistakes, where most are unforgivable…but are swept under the carpet. Not sure how he got on with taking the cases to the authorities, as the initial stages were hard to get anyone interested

hspexy I don't think it was the vets fault in this case H , they were not involved , it was the neighbours kids who contacted the owner on holiday to say the cat had drowned, it looked just like hers on the doorbell camera

If the cat was chipped and had been taken to the vet for cremation instead of straight to the company they might have noticed a different identification , name and address

Worth every penny if it meant I got my babies back..

Cats SHOULD be chipped & neutered that way we could keep on top of the cat population that has exploded & hopefully would be able to know our feline friends fate should anything happen to them..

When I was a mere girl our cat used to walk me & my siblings to the end of our road before we went to school..

One day we heard our cat had been run over on that road & we were heartbroken but when our Mum & us 6 went down & looked it wasn't our cat, very similar markings but our cat was at home!!

These things happen. It's no one's fault. It's one of those horribly sad things that happen sometimes.
