How Do You Catch a Mouse in the House?

Aww probably a little Field mouse i would give your traps a chance put something that has a strong smell so it attracts it more

Ahh we had one too, family did not believe me, got a mouse trap unfortunately it killed it… there’s a hole under fire place in living room, had to close the door it got out into hallway where dried foods are kept bit into packs of foods!

We failed getting it, can’t remember how many days it took, damn kept finding poo droppings everywhere was disgusting

Try using peanut butter it works! Was big think size of a plum or small apple so had to asap get rid of it

This was think 2 years ago, never had one before and damn are they fast !! I kept hearing my noises and saw black thing moving so fast scared the hell out of me lol

Hate the little things when we had them before we used the sticky pad things with a bit of bait

The sticky tape things work but not that humane unless you check very regularly. Chocolate also works

We just used to let the cats catch it! That or corner it put it in a cup and put a plate over it so it is dark and then take it outside. Alternatively theough a teatowel over it then pick it up insieethe teatowel and take it outside. That's how we got rid of the mice in our house.

Do you have cats? If you do, the mouse won’t want to be in the house. Leave the back door open and it will get it on its own. One of our cats is a nightmare for bringing live mice in. We normally lift her into another room and leave the back door open. I’ve watched the wee terrified mice run out the back door when they feel it’s safe

Definitely humane traps and not poison or anything. Think on you poison a mouse it will kill things like owls and other wildlife

Definitely a cat or mousetrap - zap and gone! if you let them go outside they just come back in. If you really just want to trap and release a lemonade bottle on a steep angle with a bit cheese in bottom and an obstacle course to the open top, once in they can't get out

It's a problem that is going to need sorting out and soon, with the colder months coming. Breeding is likely as where there's one, there's several.

You can get very inventive with humane traps and peanut butter is certain to attract any mice. YouTube videos on the subject of catching mice are useful but I find somewhat unpleasant to watch. Sonic pulse works from personal experience.

Cats are one solution, but for us they were the problem - Our younger cat would go and bring them into the house and then leave them to run free once she got bored with playing with them! Occasionally she would take them back out but more often than not that was left to us to sort out. Not always easy. Being a cat free household these days we no longer have a mouse problem!

You have to set up a trap, usually forcing it into a tight space to catch the little mite. We have cats so we rarely have such issues or encounters

Fingers crossed your traps catch that mouse. Just drive it to your nearest woods to release it.

First thing to do is work out how they are getting in, rats and mice are clever.

If it's possible to block the hole up and remove any encouraging things around that might encourage them in.

No point even trying to catch them if you can't find the entry point.

Mice often come in for food and warmth and are less likely to cause too much damage it's just their urine and poo that can be dangerous for us.

Rats on the other hand often do major damage, my mother in law lives in Yorkshire and she thought her dog got spooked and ran across the room... the small Staffie dog hadn't moved...

The rat people came out and found one that has electrocuted it self and died still in the shock position with it's teeth bared. Apparently it was massive. I've always lived near the country so often have mice, rats and now our new place there are squirrels around. It's the mating of the foxes and hedgehod noises I'll never get used to

But Kitkats or peanut butter seem to be a top favourite with mice...weirdly. Many won't go near cheese - which is obviously what they use in cartoons!
