Cheap Ideas for Half Term?

Ask a Question

Half term isn't far away, what are your best budget ideas for staying home with the kids? and what cheap things do you do out of the house? 🎡

We have a lot of walks near us so planning lots of them. We just got a puppy too so will be getting out and about lots when he has had all his jabs.

Baking is always a good one to keep them entertained. Some fun cookie cutters and food die are a win.

SaveMeSunday Mine has never shown any interest in baking with me which is a shame. The cost of ingredients has gone up quite a bit too.

Now the weather is warmer, if you have a wood or country park you can get to, how about a nature walk? Give them a cardboard box with airholes, sellotape a list of things to find and attach a pen on a piece of string. See who is first to find all the things on the list like various leaves, bugs, flowers etc. Free the bugs when finished. Fresh air, learning nature and off the tech!

Lynibis I do that with my kids because we live close to the woods but I'm not touching any bugs

Leannexxx ha ha, you can always wear rubber gloves! I am sure the kids won't mind. Actually you don't have to pick them up, just tick off list when spotted.

We go to the local park and play in the garden. We read stories out in the garden, ride his bike, go for a walk, colouring in. We take a basin to the garden and have a car wash for my sons cars.

The swimming pool is always a good one and fairly reasonably priced. We've also got splash parks which are fab once it's hot and free.

Midnightflower We used to have a couple of splash parks nearby (they would break down a lot though) not any near my new house though.

If it’s dry then how about a scavenger hunt ? Ask friends with kids to join you then have a picnic.
