Coloured Bathroom Bins

Ask a Question

Yesterday I shared the 50p bathroom deal from B&M and I am still amazed at how popular it is! It got me wondering how many people actually have coloured bins in their bathrooms or in other rooms of the house. I have always just had a plain silver stainless steel one in the bathroom. I do have a yellow one in the kitchen but it's in the cupboard so you don't actually see it.

I'm toying with the idea of getting a fushia pink one and matching toilet brush holder to match the towels, bathmats and other accessories.

Do you like having all of your accessories matching in colour or do you think that it is a little bit too much of one colour?

PinkElephant26 oh thanks so much for that! I have fushia towels and bathmat, some tealight candles and an artificial flower and was worried it would be too much fushia in the one space!

MrsCraig You went pink, I wondered what colour you'd gone for. My bin and brush are white all other accessories are pink, make it easier to replace without trying to match the pink. Have you thought about pale grey?

lilyflower I asked my husband and he said pink so that's what I went for. I looked at pale grey but as the tiles are already charcoal grey I think it would be too much grey and would make it look darker.

I've had white accessories before, when we first moved in. I'm only really going to use them just now for staging and then when we move they will go into the bathroom full time.

I just have a plain silver one too.

Wouldn't make much difference whatever colour it was as NOTHING matches in our house.

Agreed , whatever is cheapest when the previous has worn out . As a rule the more unpopular colours are cheaper 😀.

TheChimp I'm not normally bothered about stuff matching either, it's because we will be selling at some point, so I'm thinking about how to stage it and I know that these things make photos look better and the house more appealing.

Normally I would just buy the cheapest one and wouldn't be bothered about the colour.

MrsCraig Very good idea if you're thinking about selling up and moving on. I think that I'd do the same and get matching stuff if I was taking photos for the estate agent etc.

MrsCraig I try to keep our bathroom rather plain, all white but then stack coloured towels and flannels.

Pjran I've had white bins before but because we have charcoal grey tiles it didn't really look right unless everything else was white too and with a toddler it doesn't stay white long!

MrsCraig ours is a Brabantia chrome one which is easy to wipe, must be over 15 years old and still looks like new.

Pjran our current one is stainless steel and it is about 11 years old now. It still looks good, our son has added a dent in the lid and some scratches along the lid but you don't notice unless you look really closely!

MrsCraig keep it then if you want to add a splash of colour buy some bright towels and flannels.

Pjran I'm not planning to get rid of it. Our next house will have 2 bathrooms so it will be used in one of them and the pink stuff in the other one.

I have beach pictures accessories in bathroom and white bin if I wonted blue or changed colour I just spray what I already have to match. Bm had some great bargains to be found. I go every week on days I know stuff are getting reduced the bin you posted would have been stock from last year and warehouse having clear out so sent to stores that have good turn around so if you live local to smaller bm your most probably going to miss out on these deals unless some in back store room.

Ann1984 I've got 2 B&Ms near me, but neither have the fuschia colour I'm after. They have some lovely pink ones but not the right colour.

MrsCraig have you thought of getting a white one if not spray it you can get vinyl stickers to decorate

Ann1984 I looked into it but it didn't really work out any cheaper than buying one from Amazon.

I have a bright red one which doesn’t match anything else at all, but it was 80p a few years back and I needed one so I got it regardless of the colour 😂

I have a great bin in my loo but don't think it was purposely colour coordinated but just happens everything in the bathroom is grey/blues

lauren4 mine has never really been colour coordinated. It has grey tiles, which where there when we bought the house, and we brought the white wicker drawers and stainless steel bin from the old house. Our bathroom is normally just whatever bath mat and towel I find first and whichever toilet bin etc is the cheapest. I'm making an effort though for selling.
