I have registered my interest with the royal mint for a set of coins. I was born in the late Queen's coronation year so thought they would be a nice gift for my first great grandchild who will be born in her son's coronation year.

Lynibis What a lovely idea and a great keepsake. It's a dilema, I liked the coins but my husband isn't a fan of the monarchy, so was a bit disparaging when I mention getting it.

beccatavender ah that's a shame. I don't think you need to be a monarchist to have a memento of an historic moment. Plus it may be worth money in the future. Imagine if you had a coin of Queen Victoria's coronation. I must admit I would love to have a China teacup and saucer but mass produced ones of today do not seem as nice as the ones in your picture.

I agree I haven't liked any of the merchandise as you say the quality doesn't seem that high

I've ordered some materials to make bunting. I've some sew on patches that I've sewn onto my daughter and my camp blankets

I do not know why but I have no interest in the Coronation, I think the Harry, Meghan stuff has really messed it up for them and making a mockery of it. Hopefully I will feel better towards nearer the time. As for merchandise I will not be purchasing any.

It’s Andrew and the way it was handled has made me have zero interest in the royal family.

beccatavender - I am waiting for the sales when the prompt and regency is over. I am hoping the Poundshop and B&M will reduce the price of everything down to 10p!

I won't be buying anything. I will watch it on the TV, but I don't feel the need to have a piece of merchandise.

An aunty used to buy royal memorabilia and proudly displayed it. Upon her death no one wanted it and antique dealers weren’t interested.

Pjran I think our relationship with the Royal family has changed. I think the Queens Coronation cup and saucer, I have on display is for sentimental reasons, it's treasured because it belonged to my Mum. I know in school I was given a sugar spoon to commemorate the Silver Julilee, but I couldn't tell you where that is.😀

I also have two Japanese tea sets, that my grandfather brought back from WWII I love them but know my son, doesn't appreciate them, not sure if they have any monetary value. I love them because they belonged to my grandparents.

I'm not anti monarchy, in fact if I had to put a label on it, is say I'm pro monarchy. The amount of income and soft power they generate for the country actually massively outweighs the tax money we spend on them - despite what anti monarchists will tell you. I did like Lizzy, I like Anne, loved Prince Phillip, I like Kate and William.

I cannot stand Charles or Harry and Meghan, or Sweaty Prince Andrew. They have all done irreparable damage to the institution, and all while Lizzy was coming to the end of her life and tenure. Her last few years must have been very tumultuous and stressful.

But no, I won't be buying any royal merch or celebrating anything in regard to the new king. If he abdicated and gave the throne to William, I'd hang my Union Jack again.

I'm not sure yet, I may get something small for the kids to keep. My son attends scouts and has received a few different badges for the Coronation, in memory of Queen Elizabeth and now the Coronation which I think will be nice for him to keep.

Just like with his mother, I will never spend my money on anything relating to this dude (or anyone else linked to them in future)...
