Come to think of it, about 13 years or so ago I was on a bus, my bag accidentally tapped the Oyster reader and I got charged again just as I was leaving the bus (I just said to myself: 
Oh, well.)
Is there an easy solution? Yes. RFID wallets.
If you have a smartphone with the NFC feature, then you can download an app such as Credit Card NFC Reader and it'll tell you if it can access your cards through the wallet you use.
I have an RFID wallet (it's a women-styled wallet to be honest, but I don't mind as it's great with a lot of space for a lot of cards, cash, and coins).
A friend went to pay for some goods using his credit card when the assistant said thank you and passed the receipt. He quickly said I’ve not handed my card over yet and on inspecting the receipt the payment was taken from his bank card which was still in his wallet!
This isn't a surprise. The tech needs looking at as its a worry. Losing a fiver and under may not be a huge loss if it's an accident to a few but for some who count every penny it's not OK. I use a local ice-cream van and accidentally put thounds into the card reader. The person nearly tapped it but was stopped. Thankfully it hadn't taken it automatically as she was like I've no idea how to do refunds
