Decline of the Roast Dinner

I love a roast but others in the family aren’t so keen. However they all eat roasted veg served with chicken breast. So it’s chopped potatoes, onions, swede, carrots, sweet potatos and leeks.

I love a roast dinner, with my family we had a mid week roast as not all together on a Sunday. However since Covid things changed. So have one when we can. Love a roast chicken, the gravy makes it especially using the chicken juices sadly not having one this week as had one last week.

We have a roast dinner most sundays There are exceptions of course but we love a roast! Usually beef, chicken or gammon for us

A roast dinner is one of my favourite meals. But unfortunately I don't have them very often these days.

More so in winter than summer as our house can get really hot when the sun is out. Not every Sunday, usually an occasion or just now and again.

Weird to think about it, don't remember the last time family had a roast together, mostly just christmas dinner more of a take out for tea kinda get together family

We still love a roast but not every week. I batch cook it all then rather quick and easy

I do a roast dinner about 4 times a year don't want to get fed up with them

Best meal of the week and only occasionally don't have a roast on sundays.

Not nearly as regularly as used to be cos I'm usely out and about and opt for something quick on my return.

Energy costs is the most likely reason for the decline, as well as groceries going up in price. My household still has a Sunday roast most weeks.

Love a roast dinner, but isn't meat for a roast so expensive now.

Our daughter wanted to do a Roast on Sunday, I suggested Salad Jacket & Cbicken but she insisted on cooking Chicken & all the trimmings..

I got home Sunday evening after I had been at work since 8.30am Saturday morning to find her sweating in a the kitchen after cooking the roast! Daughter & my partner ate the Roast, I had been out for Dinner with the people I support so I wasn't hungry .

We had the leftover for our Monday Dinner & we thoroughly enjoyed it...

Around midnight I suddenly felt sick & threw it all up again for the next hour! I went to bed & slept, got up & was fine!

When I lived as a family we always had sunday roast. Now I live alone I don't bother so much for my self but occasionally have a little mini roast using a chicken breast, roasties, stuffing and veg. I do a full roast when family come to dinner.

I get those saying energy and cost of meat. I put the chicken in the slow cooker. I get a chicken cos there's always left overs so that I can make things like stir fry, pies or curry out it that week. Or it goes in sandwiches

My parents are elderly and don’t manage a full roast any more but do a mini version with ready cooked sliced meat. They call it a ‘fake’ roast .

We don't tend to have roasts during the warmer months but still have them when it's winter, you can't beat a good roast and all the trimmings.

I must admit it has been a while since we had a roast dinner. Used to have one every Sunday and use the left overs for the next couple of meals.

I love a Roast Dinner but unfortunately I haven`t made one for along time apart from Christmas. If you have a big family then Its Ideal. I forget the last time I actually used my regular oven. I use my air fryer a lot nowadays due to the cost. Plus nothing Is cheap anymore In regards to food.

I don't mind a roast dinner although I am unable to cook these days. I do think that growing up with them every single Sunday and some holidays has put off generations from wanting them now.

I've just eaten an Asda meal for one beef dinner (part of a 3 for £7.50 promotion) and it tasted exactly like a real home-made dinner. 5/5.

I love a roast and have one on most sundays throughout the winter, in the summer if it’s warm i don’t usually bother though

Aw man we absolutely love a roast, and I really enjoy cooking it. It’s our favourite!

No decline for us, we have a dinner every Sunday and so does a lot of people I know

We all make an effort on Christmas day which is the best roast dinner. My favourite meal of the year.

I like roasts but we don’t have it regularly. We prefer having it when we’re out

I used to do roast dinners when the children were at home but now I am quite happy with a mega mix of roast vegetables as I am a vegetarian.My husband is happy to join in with my type of roast.I particularly like roast parsnips.
