What Are the Benefits of Using a Humidifier?
Ask a Question
Hi, I've recently been at hospital for tests as I keep losing my voice. One of the nurses in my work has mentioned I should maybe use a humidifier. I'm looking for some recommendations as I'm keen to try this out. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated # I have updated this question as I stupidly said dehumidifier
I suggest you check with a doctor - it would seem more appropriate to use a humidifier for voice loss a dehumidifier could make the problem worse.

Probably not so important now as the temperatures outside warm up - an open window will do the job . In winter it's difficult but you have 7 months to investigate the best dehumidifiers for next winter .
Golfforall Or better still to spend the seven months checking with a doctor to check if an expensive dehumidifier would be any help. Humidifiers cost much less.
Usually a person suffering voice loss need to breathe in moist air. Dehumidifiers take the moisture out of the air, and are mainly used in Spring and Summer months (when weather is said to be humid).

Sammycb AFTER UPDATE: Easy mistake to make
Thanks for pointing out you'd updated your post, it prevents people thinking I've lost the plot, hope the links I posted help in some way, a cheap HYGROMETER (not to be confused with a hidrometer) might help you decide if you actually need a humidifier. Even drying laundry in the room you sleep in, can raise the humidity significantly.
At these prices perhaps worth getting a few for different rooms. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/385341259334?campid=5338723872&customid=hyKbWwsWAAAAe01VvHGzCfFpAP8vAAAAAA&mkcid=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&toolid=20006
(I suspect that "IMPROCVED" accuracy, in description, means IMPROVED).
davidstockport Thank you so much for your reply. I've had a look at the link you sent and have put in an order. Thanks again for responding to my plea
It seems to help with my allergies, and deals with damp and mould, so helps those with breathing issues
This video may help:
I recently bought a USB humidifier and a humidifier meter from AliExpress. The USB humidifier is up and running and the meter says it's at 43% (not good, and dry).
Gonna see if the cheap humidifier does anything useful.
PhilipMarc That's really interesting to know. You'll need to keep me updated on your findings
Sammycb It's 9:45am and the percentage has gone up to 46%. lol
I sure hope it doesn't reach 50% or 60%. ha ha
Update: The humidifier (cost about £1.60) I bought can be effective, but it needs to be nearby or else it's on for nothing. I frankly can feel the difference in the air between the dry one and the humidified, and the latter is vastly superior, cleaner, and fresh.
So, if you're gonna buy a humidifier buy one that's decently powerful.
I think its worth a try, my husband has one on his side of the bed and he has COPD (plus he snores really bad) and it certainly helps him. They can help many, many health problems. Hope this is some use to you.
