Dire Warning Not to Use Smartphones on Charge While Bathing

In the News

This is such a sad story and a stark warning about smartphones and water

This young girl was making a phone call in the bath while the phone was charging

She dropped it in the water and was electrocuted

This had happened before to another young person who also died and people have had severe burns from the same

It is like dropping a toaster in the bathwater , just as dangerous and deadly

Why people can't put their phones down for five minutes ,especially when having a bath I just can't imagine. We used to be happy with a duck lol. Image

I'm often using a smartphone while in the bath but never on charge because there is no way to charge it in the bathroom as no power outlets. Knowing the safety of many Chinese products are poor and built to a price you can't be sure shorting out a 5V connection wouldn't allow 230V through the 5V USB cable when shorted. I guess they are connecting the charger to the shaver socket to charge the phone unless other European countries are more likely to have mains sockets in bathrooms. In Asia I think they have wetrooms which have mains sockets and you have showers, baths and washing machines close to each other.

BonzoBanana The shaver socket was probably where it was being charged as you mentioned

How awful, electricity and water is always a bad idea. I hope this tragic incident is a warning to young people who might be tempted to do the same.

Midnightflower Part of the reason i posted this M

It always seems obvious after the fact but not always before

Years ago you would worry more about taking the radio in the bathroom , unless it was battery operated, now we have more technology such as the mobile to think about , and not just contact with water, things like not using it while on charge due to the possibility of the battery exploding etc

telmel absolutely, it wouldn't of been a risk I thought of and I imagine alot of young people who are particularly glued to their phones do it.

Bathtime is ‘switch off’ time and can charge in another room until I’m finished. Then switch back on. So dangerous in bathroom.
