Disney Ruined the Star Wars & Indiana Jones Franchises?
Other
I know the 4th Indiana Jones made a lot of money as did Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker, but did they not damage the legendary film franchises with terrible storylines, cliched plots and weak charcters?
ch7leach Indiana Jones 4th instalment was called Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls and the final of the 9 original movie series was Te Last Jedi & The Rise of Skywalker (movies 8 and 9 respectively). Lol just kiddin, I get it. There is no Indi 4 or last 2 Star Wars movies
I'm not really a fan of the star wars movies. I liked the effects but didn't get into the story as much but have to say I'm enjoying the star wars series more. There is more time for character development and to flesh out the stories more which you simply don't have time for in the movies. I've no idea about Indiana Jones not something I've ever enjoyed to be honest. Same as ET I actually hated the film and found it really annoying. For Star Wars, Disney has made the franchise enjoyable for me.
BonzoBanana Thanks for that detailed reply BonzoBanana. I agree that some Star Wars is better. I liked the first 2 Mandolorian series and absolutely loved the Kenobi TV show. Also Rogue One was good.
Well it’s like everything, once it crosses over into the being done solely for money territory it goes down the pan. Disney milks things so much with their star wars & marvel franchises and tbh it kind of seems like people are growing tired of it all.
The good thing is, you don’t need to watch any of the new films if you don’t want, they don’t really add much so the original classics can still be enjoyed in the same way.
Never cared much about Star Wars (I did watch the Original Trilogy to see what the big fuss was about, and didn't like it).
Now, Indiana Jones? The ruination already started with the fourth movie and this one looks to be somehow even worse. I'll only watch it for Indy.
Harrison Ford takes part in the blame since he agreed to be part of those movies for a paycheck.
Wouldnt bother paying to see these new ones in the cinema but will probably be happy to watch them when them on the TV as they are not bad films. Harrison Ford is very watchable in most films.
I didn't mind Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. All of the films are fantastical. Alien skulls are in the same ballpark as the mystical stones used in Temple of Doom.
Whereas the Star Wars film series was, in my view, already ruined before Disney acquired Lucasfilm. I didn't enjoy the prequel trilogy (released 1999 to 2005). They were made before Disney took over. I thought the Star Wars sequel trilogy (released 2015 to 2019) was awful, but I really enjoyed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), which was made under Disney.
The real problem is all of the big Hollywood studios don't like taking risks. Most films currently getting released by them are very formulaic. I went to see Fast X recently and thought it was really embarrassingly bad.
ACR I agree the prequel for SW were not great and before Disney but the sequels! Are complete garbage! I also did not particularly like solo.
For me the only films to exist are the original trilogy and rogue one was also great.
Indiana Jones the original trilogy only crystal skull was not great and I can't imagine this new one will be any good either, I will watch it tho
stopped watching indy after the first couple. some of the star wars series are ok, some are a joke just cashing in. i was at star wars con in london in april and went to an ahsoka pannle and that looks really good, some of the clips seem like they are going to try and bring back the jedi order or thats how they made it seem.
I just hope that Disney doesn't ruin Sheffield's famous Full Monty ,the strip scenes filmed up the road from me,near where you are originally from lolly1967..
