Does Anyone Know How to Stop a Cat Scratching on Bannister Spindles?

Ask a Question

We have just re-stained/varnished again because my eldest cat loves the spindles for sharpening her claws, she can strip one down to the wood, she has scratching boards and also uses trees in the garden but she loves these spindles, can anyone help, has anyone had a similar problem? I'm at a loss!

Thanks x

I want to know how to stop all the world's cats pooping in my garden. Sick of the smell and having to keep picking up other people's cats mess!! One neighbour has 11 bl**dy cats!

Lynibis cats hate anything with citrus smell. You can buy citrus sprays u can use in ur garden without it afftecting ur flowers/shrubs x

Billie has pretty much answered the question, but you could also have a talk to the neighbours.

Just as long as you don't actually do anything to harm the cats. All living creatures need to poop every now and then. Just a bit unfortunate that it sometimes gets done in inappropriate places. 🙂

JoTarpley could u not attach a scratching board or a small sheet of wood against the spindles ur cat is using as a scratching pole. Don't know if that would encourage it 2 scratch there more often or not. Hope my suggestion helps x

I'm not sure Billie, as you say, I'd be attracting it to that area really but I really appreciate your reply, thanks! x
