Does anyone remember these as a kid - then getting them for your own kids?
I have now bought some for my grandkids lol.
Seemed to be a cloudy mess most of the time- but it was the thought that were actually little creatures in there.
I was just looking for ideas for Christmas presents and these took me back in time lol.
I remember those my sister bought them for her son last Christmas you can also get ant farms and worm farms for kids
I got given some as a kid but my mum wouldn’t let me keep them so i never really got to experience it. I have bought some as presents for friends children though
Kids were never allowed them, my wife has bad OCD and these freak her out, she sees them as some kind of germ, weird how the brain works in certain people, I don't mind them personally
My brother had sea monkeys and they were thriving by the window…until the day our cat knocked the tank over and they all died
I remember as a kid getting comics like Whizzer and Chips and Krazy and they would feature adverts like that plus I think Marvel and DC comics had them. Never bought any so no idea what they were like though but remember the adverts.
I had some as a kid, thought they were cool but don't remember doing much with them. Then as an adult I got more, tried them and got bored and forgot about them. Many many years ago
Our Granddaughter was gifted sea monkeys, her Mum was going to throw it out as nothing happened but after some time there are tiny little sea monkeys swimming around, she loves it.
We all learnt our lesson about remembering to put the lid back on firmly as we have always had cats !
This has got me nostalgic now. My most favourite toy ever was the Shaker Maker. Does anyone else remember those ?
Put the mix and mould into a cocktail shaker thing. Skake it - leave it to set and it comes out like a blancmange texture. Then leave it overnight and it shrinks and hardens ready for painting lol.
And its on sale everywhere- the up to date ones and the vintage ones. I am so excited - grandkids that are age appropriate will get these in their Christmas box !
(I might accidentally put one extra in my shopping basket by myself - of course it wont be worth returning just one will it lol)
I remember them. Seems cruel to keep creatures in something so small to be honest. I don't see the appeal of them. Even as a kid I didn't get it
My daughter who is 23 purchased these a couple of years ago. They grew and did well even having their own babies. I felt sorry for them in the small plastic thing they lived in so we purchased a bigger one then they all died. As we had a small tank my daughter purchased some fish but they soon outgrew that so she purchase a larger tank. She then purchased another tank and a crab. So from a tiny tank we now have two large tanks.
