Easter's over
Other
So I popped into Tesco this evening to get some film snacks, and thought I'd nip along the Seasonal aisle to see if they were selling off any Easter related treats.
Forget it - The Easter aisle is now a barbecue/miracle grow/sand pit aisle.
And not even a hot cross bun to be seen in the Bakery section.
I guess you could put this down to good buying practice by this particular Tesco, with no surplus Easter stock to try and shift next week, but I was a little disappointed not to come away with a bargain crème egg or two.
This morning I went into a Tesco Express and later this evening I went into a Tesco superstore and both were filled with Easter products selling for the full price. I also went into an Asda store and only the bakery goods with best before 8/4/23 were heavily reduced. Years ago I could get loads of Easter goods reduced in the big four supermarkets on an Easter Saturday evening.
Our local Tesco had loads of Easter eggs left, still selling at full price. Hopefully a few bargains next week for us.
blacklabrador only reason we went in was because my mother in law wanted to buy one for our son.
I reckon people are buying less so the shops are trying to make as much profit as they can. Years ago the shops would sell out where I am. There were loads left when I looked the other day
Jerseydrew I think they could have sold hundreds last night, lots of worried looking Men realising they'd left it too late to buy Easter Eggs for family or loved ones.
Haha probably. I only got the oh one cos I ordered it online from someone who makes them so not gone Cadbury. Better value and the money is going to a small independent business rather then a massive company that doesn't care about the environment
How much did this handmade Easter egg cost you? It's only melted chocolate moulded together. I am sticking to the big supermarkets reducing theirs from tomorrow.
To be fair I have not been looking at the eggs in store, I do have trouble finding chicken eggs though. I used to wait until after Easter to get the discounted eggs. I may have a look if I’m out next week.
eyeballkerry Yeah I couldn't get any chicken eggs on Thursday, all they had left were organic blue Cotswold hand reared £2.50 for 6, and I'm not paying that.
The last 2 years my Sainsburys has started winding down how much stock they have the week before Easter. Both times I've been caught out waiting until closer to the time.
I hope to find some cheap Easter things. I wrapped my children little Easter presents in valentine's paper I'd got on deal for 10p
I think many retailers have had less Easter stock than in previous years. I remember in one of the national lockdowns going into wilkos and there being ridiculous amounts of Easter eggs reduced which they couldn't seem to get rid off. I went in last week and they didn't seem to have any.
Its been this way for a few years now. The days when they were all selling off cheap eggs has long gone sadly. I am sure they cant all have been sold so I do wonder if they just get sent back in order to stop them being sold off cheap?
It’s not in my house we still have a lot of Easter eggs, Easter will last around 2 weeks in our house
