EasyJet Evacuation as Bag of Vapes Explodes on London-Bound Flight

In the News

We all are starting to learn about the health implications of smoking vapes

Now we are learning about how dangerous they can be just being carried on your person

This woman on an easyjet flight had her bumbag explode , it contained vapes and a power bank

Luckily the plane had not taken off from Heraklion airport in Crete and the plane was evacuated due to the thick smoke using the slides

The cause still needs to be investigated as it could have been the power bank, vapes, or a combination of both

I cannot imagine how the passengers felt, some thought it was a bomb going off !

I’m a non smoker so ban the whole lot. Fed up walking up my high street and walking into a cold of vape smoke. It is getting to the stage I don’t want to go anymore.

SilverSurfer Yes, I am right behind you with banning alcohol, especially before flying. Why do people need to drink, whatever the time, when flying.

eyeballkerry I've never had a drink of alcohol before flying, don't see the point, when we was due to fly from Manchester airport recently the plane was delayed because of some drunk 🤬, he was abusing boarding staff

martinlufc5637 It’s not right and the law needs to change. We sat next to women on a plane back from Barbados and she was drinking her own alcohol which I do not believe is allowed. But what can you after takeoff? Didn’t want to cause a scene.

SilverSurfer To me alcohol has no place on the street. Keep it to pubs, homes and private venues. I see people in the sea drinking which I think is irresponsible.

eyeballkerry I’m the same as you, all of it should be ban from any public space and also in any space where it negatively impacts on someone else. I can’t enjoy my garden because of my neighbours smoking and have to close downstairs windows and when I go on holiday sitting on the balcony is also spoil and I have to close balcony doors and sit inside. I don’t know why it’s allowed to carry on. It’s one thing if you want to kill yourself but don’t let your life choices affect someone else’s life. At least when people drink alcohol it doesn’t smell.

It’s about time the government brought an end to it completely.

Gromit22 I totally agree with on smoking. Unfortunately going back to alcohol my brother is an alcoholic and I can’t do anything about it.

Wow. This is so scary. This is why they aren’t allowed to go into hold luggage! It’ll be interesting to find out was it the vape or power bank

PayItForward Me too P, both are risky to me, one being a power source and the other, the vape being battery powered

It could be a untested and unregulated vape that has exploded or could possibly be a cheap unregulated and untested power bank.

telmel Seen electric buses in China catching on fire and Western countries have been buying them too, but so far it hasn't happened over here (not necessarily England, rather the West).

Pretty chaotic if/when it happens.

I dont even like the smell from a vape yet alone smoke one. I`ve seen them driving along & the whole cabin of the car Is like a fog machine. They are worse than cigarettes. They should ban them through the airports anyways when you go through the scanners/detectors. Dangerous. The power bank Is probably cheap Chinese knock offs. You hear of fires etc from those e-bikes on charge.

Emerge11 I agree E , i just commented the same , i think the car filling with smoke thing is wannabee kids from the hood , like in the films

I can never understand how people drive smoking with the windows closed, its as if possible cancer from the cigarette or vape isn't enough, they want to make sure of it by breathing and recycling in the lungs the expelled smoke too

People are already on edge and these stupid hipster electronic tobacco devices just.. explode.

Much as I despise vapes, if they ban them then they also need to ban power banks and don't see that happening.
