Eid Mubarak (Happy Eid) to All

Ask a Question

I love to see the community getting ready for Eid (or any other religious festivals). It is definitely a time for communities to celebrate together no matter if they do share the same beliefs or not . At the end of the day it’s about living and loving together. We are all human beings and should celebrate diversity and our differences.

Is your local area celebrating Eid .

Do you think that all religious festivals should be celebrated so we can all come together as one

Thanks for your kind reply. I think it’s time for everyone to come together as a community no matter what their beliefs and backgrounds are . Religion is about loving and respecting one another. That’s what we should all focus on , love for our community and if we can just do that then together we can achieve wonderful things and make a difference to ppls lives . Because if we all work together we will be able to see anyone who needs a little help and together we can support anyone struggling or suffering.

Anyway I wanted this to be a friendly greeting to wish everyone Eid Mubarak, in the hope it will bring us all closer

I’m sorry I don’t know what I said to upset you . I was grateful for your kind comment . I was hoping it would encourage ppl to help each other . I thought you was the same way thinking as me . I’m very sorry if I’ve worded my reply wrong. Really I was so happy you replied positively as I was worried I may have negative replies . That’s what I was trying to say . But obviously I’ve put it wrong . Please accept my apologies

Thank you , I was a bit worried, the last thing I wanted to do was upset anyone on such a lovely occasion. I was watching the ladies having the mehndi on their hands preparing for Eid . Such gorgeous designs were being completed in minutes, very talented artistic people were doing it and they were busy all day . With all the struggles we are all going through it was nice to see ppl genuinely smiling again .

My lovely Muslim neighbour always brings us some beautiful food around she has cooked.

We send them a gift of Chocolates or Biscuits at Christmas, I always send the 5 children ranging from 3-19 years old a birthday card & a present for the younger ones & money for the older ones. I always buy those 9 bars of Dairy Milk & 9 bars of Wispas packs, split them & take 14 bars around for the children & their parents to share every Birthday..

We send Gift Vouchers when the eldest passed her Exams with A Stars & when she went to University & will do with the rest of the children.

We have lent our Asian neighbours everything from TV Remote to our labour as they have an Autistic lad aged 8 who's very strong & has pulled doors off!

They are not just our neighbours but our friends, the Dad gives me free lifts within a couple of miles as I don't drive but I insist on paying him if it more then a few mile,he is the first person we turn to for a taxi & we pay him a bit extra when he drives us to the Railway Station or when we are going out for the night so my partner doesn't have to drive.

Your neighbours sound like the ideal neighbours. I love it when it’s Eid because many of my neighbours being lovely home made food to us (not just my house but almost everyone in the street ) . It must take a lot of time to prepare and cook but there’s always plenty for everyone and it genuinely makes the neighbours happy to be able to share and see their delicious food being appreciated. No one is left out , there’s literally food for all . Lol

I am not against any religion myself , everyone has their own beliefs , or none for some

But i am a bit confused here , i thought religious posts were banned ???

A year or two ago i posted a heart rendering news story about a couple who were buried in seperate graveyards which bordered next to each other, the husband on the protestant side and the wife on the catholic side, just a wall dividing them both

My post was removed with the explanation religious posts are not allowed

The link below wasnt the one i posted, mine had more detail

Oh I didn’t realise, I hope I haven’t broken any rules . I was only posting a greeting similar to Happy Christmas or Happy Easter etc .

I was hoping we could all celebrate this special day together. Just simple as that . Unfortunately my intentions seem to have failed .

I’m still optimistic that together we can still spread love and kindness to all regardless of religion.

Eid Mubarak to everyone and I hope everyone is having a great time .

telmel Hi this is not a debating / opinionized religious post its a celebration its just the same as saying Happy Christmas and Happy Easter which we allow and are always posted - we do ask for some wiggle room with guidelines and if its a serious religious or political debate asking for opinions then we wouldn't allow it as this is where the arguments start - I hope this clears things up. Have a great Friday Thank you 😊

emmabeckz Thanks Emma, my post a while back wasn't asking for any opinions or to cause any distress to anyone , it actually hit me emotionally that two people in love could not be buried in the same graveyard due to their beliefs

Of course political debates are not allowed , i understand that , as debating religion as it could cause derogatory remarks, although the majority of people on LD would not do this, but as with this post mine was to show a beautiful gesture, the hand across the dividing wall , a symbol of togetherness and joining of beliefs

telmel On a separate note while we are on about causing arguments, we have not seen or heard from David Stockport now for over 2 months. I have tagged him a few times but nothing - it's quite sad really I think something must have happened as he was an avid user as I'm sure you are aware.

I’m sure there’s no need for you to go on a diet . There are not many days that you can indulge yourself so enjoy the delicious food and don’t worry about any dieting. I’m sure you have also been rushing around visiting friends , family and neighbours so all that yummy food will have been needed for its nutritional value to give you the energy needed throughout the day . I’m glad you’ve had a nice day and yummy food. That’s what it’s all about. Indulging yourself with great food and spending time with family and friends etc (if possible)

Thanks for your kind reply. It’s so important that we all understand and celebrate our differences. I remember it was in the newspapers that there wasn’t going to be a nativity play at some schools as it might upset other religions attending the school . My nieces school did hold a nativity play that year and everyone was involved, no matter their religion. A beautiful Muslim girl was saying her lines and her parents were in the row in front of my family , her father cried when she delivered her lines . He was so proud of his little girl . He was beaming with pride . It’s such a shame that the newspapers print these stories that some people are not happy that the traditional nativity play is being performed because honestly this Muslim family completely embraced the festival, we’re proud of their little girl’s performance. There was no ill feelings. So why not embrace all religions at schools , teach our children the importance of the different faiths and their celebrations. There’s too much negativity in the world and most of it is not actually based on truth . Just accept each other , celebrate each other and love each other .

I’m really pleased at such kind replies to my post .

Nickyhaslam77 couldn't have but it any better. I think newspapers and the media love creating disunity.

Thanks for your reply , I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks the media are creating a lot of problems that are being experienced with their biased reporting. Most people no matter what their colour, religion, background are genuinely nice people who just want to live their lives caring and providing for their families and getting along with their neighbours and communities. No bad feelings from the majority.

We have a very small Muslim Community where I am so no big eid celebrations sadly. While we are a melting pot of all sorts where I am the main reglions are coe and catholic and johovahs. Happy eid to those celebrating it. Have a wonderful time. Not sure the correct thing to say as my knowledge of Islam is atrocious. Feel free to educate me. Can't promise it'll stick. But I love to learn.

I’ve always said “Eid Mubarak “ as it’s what I thought means Happy Eid . It is generally used as the Happy Eid greetings but Mubarak translated means blessing so it’s like Eid blessings in translation .
