Eloping to Hawaii Instead of a Big Wedding?
In the News
Suggested to girlfriend that we ditch the big wedding day and save money. Elope to Hawaii instead. She is not sure. Buy whats the point going into debt for a hectic day?
I agree P, a good alternative, you could just invite direct family to the big day or even do a Las Vegas theme wedding
The choice is yours and your girlfriends and nobody else. My nephew recently got married in Finland where he lives with his girlfriend, now wife. He told no one he was doing it. Not sure what my sister in law really thinks about this. I would not mind, but would like to be told in advance.
eyeballkerry I think Covid and then the inflation pressures have made people wake up to what really matters in life. Not trying to please others or look fancy. Just the bond between people is what is important
PaxAmerica My sister in laws eldest son got married also without telling her before Covid. They were then going to have a party but never happened due to Covid. By the way my sister in law is a lovely person who has three lovely boys. So no idea why this keeps happening.
Nothing wrong with a registry office wedding and a big knees up after wards, sister in law spent £25,000 on their wedding, it was all fancy and dull, mate got married in January at the registry office and it was the best day ever, we had a great time
My second Marriage I got Married In the States. It was right next to the Colarado River between two States. It was cheaper than a Registry Office. I am pretty sure the Temp was 104F too or near abouts. My first Marriage was a Church Wedding and boy was It expensive. Not because It failed but I or we paid half for It at the time.
Honestly I would rather a cute back garden or small beach wedding. You are right, no point in having debt having over you for the entire marriage.
You don’t need to elope anywhere. You can get married in church or register office with just one friend.
We did this we went to Italy. Took immediate family , their was 9 of us all together including us and our son it was lovely. So glad we did
I’ve always thought spending buckets of money on a wedding is a waste. I’d rather put the money towards something productive like house mortgage or a honeymoon.
I think that’s because I don’t place that much importance on marriage but i get that other people do and to many it is one of the most important says of their lives
jms19 Some bride's dream of a fairytale wedding with no expense spared which is a complete waste of money for a one-day party experience. Eloping to Hawaii in my opinion is insulting to people who would love to be at your wedding and enjoy themselves with cheap food, drinks and music.
