Did you hear that the government wants to get rid of great deals like BOGOF on food? 
They say it's part of an 'Obesity Crackdown'
Would be better to introduce cooking and health education at the schools.
I can see a minimal impact on such a measure. Is it going to impact every item? Because you can find BOGOF deals on items like fruit.
I'm sick of this government none stop telling us what we can eat ffs I'll eat what I want when I want and if there's no deals I'll buy more of it, it's not gonna stop obesity
kikogpe yeah and you honestly think that stopping this is gonna stop that? No coz people will eat what they want it's that simple how about they closed half of those take away places where I am there is 5 McDonald's very close by I live on a main road and there's nothing but eating places and take out
Can't remember the last time i seen a BOGOF deal anyway, in fact the majority of deals now are centered around loyalty card discounts what I see. None of the stores offer deals like they used to thou.
what! have they not heard we are in financial crisis and those deals help us afford our weekley shop. honestly its ridiculous
SamGoodship - It won't happen. Just the typical news grabbing headlines by the government. Remember fining patients for not turning up to their appointment headlines?
jam45 I think that you might be wrong on this one.
They have to stop these bogof deals where they hump the price up just before to make the deal sound better.
They should stop places like Iceland and Farmfoods doing 'Buy 10' for a certain price too. It's conning people into thinking it's the best price.and making them buy more than they need.
TheChimp ...I noticed as I passed Iceland on the way home from work this lunchtime that they now are doing a 3 for £10 deal across the while shop,there was a poster advertising it...

Good , half price is always the better option and makes it easier for people on a budget.
Come to think of it I don't really see many BOGOFF deals around anymore, I much prefer to buy single products at half price.
I’m definitely for this, there’s no reason the supermarkets do bogof deals. In japan there is no discounts for buying bigger amounts of items, in general the price is the same if you buy 1 or 10.
We do have a problem in this country with over eating and personally i would say bogof deals encourage me to do that.
As long as they replace it with deals for just buying one of the item this will work out great
I'm not sure how to deal with the obesity epidemic but I don't think this will work.
Its just another way to control people instead of introducing more awareness programs relating to healthy habits & programs to loose wait & avoid gaining wait they are putting more people into hardships during the cost of living crises specially created to control people
I think it's a good idea as bogof is better. However, more needs to be done to tackle food waste.
Maybe there should be a course at school where they teach how to cook and maintain a home. Something maybe similar to home economics.
The government should take a page out of there own book . Oh they can't they keep lying about everything . Covid Boris sunik all full of **** . Why allways lie try telling the truth for once. You don't make any money on bogof so you cannot charge more vat on it . I'm sorry but almost 20 years of there bull **** is very hard to swallow . Maybe it's time for a general election .
We might have an obesity crisis but we also have a huge amount of people with the opposite types of eating disorders (I know you can have eating disorders with obesity too!) most of it stems from mental health issues, pushing the news of the obesity crisis and all the bad will just encourage more going the other way and triggering those with EDs.
How about educate how to cook good food, easy food and show recipes that are healthier. DON'T MENTION PEOPLE'S WEIGHT WITH IT. Same with fun exercises or activities to do and DON'T MENTION BODY SHAPE, SIZE OR WEIGHT.
Often pointing out weight and the way people look can send them either way, both usually being unhealthy, either lack of nutrition, too low calories, some people even scared to eat, body issues OR pushing people to eat more for comfort.
It is the mental health crisis and correct education that is failing, it isn't all about offers and deals.
Sadly focusing their efforts and money on other things again.
BOGOF items, not that I've seen them in a long time, are great as it can help us fill our cupboards (we don't have to eat it all at once!) it can help feed families, junk food or not, it is about moderation and also activity levels. Junk food often has longer life span, so would be a good deal. OR If you don't want the extra product, you could put it in the foodbank collections, helping other families, or even pass on to a family member or neighbour. They are just assuming YOU will be eating all of it. 
Well it looks like this won't be happening anytime soon. The Government has now delayed it (again) for two more years. It will be at least October 2025 before any ban happens as further reviews take place.
